The absolute scourge of the ‘informal meeting’ - a technique management now regularly use to avoid accountability. Always ask what ‘informal’ means, always demand the full formal process with union support, and always remember that it is definitely not an ‘informal meeting’ if HR are there.

this changes the way you deal with their arguments. instead of rebutting their points you dissect their motives, focusing not just whether something is true, but *why they are saying it* you eat their frame

as a frame, "it's a fascist attack" not only tells us what's happening, it also explains why they're talking about it like they are. it makes legible not just their actions, but their explanations. it eats their frame.

if they say something and you say that's not true, your response is still shaped like their frame Your frame has to *contain and explain* their frame, not just contradict it. You have to eat their frame. Like Kirby

It's revolting that UK govt are implying the Dover 'protestors' were marching about their 'legitimate concerns' over people traffickers, not because they're ignorant racists. Worse is the impact of UK policy on those traffickers, forcing more unsafe routes.

Kent Police has issued a statement following the disruption in Dover earlier today.
It says officers "responded to a spontaneous protest" during Saturday morning, adding "no arrests were made".
"Traffic is flowing normally, and all involved had dispersed by midday," it addsThe Met Police said 35 people had been arrested in response to the disruption.
Assistant Commissioner Matt Twist said the action was "criminality", not protest, and pledged to bring those involved to justice as quickly as possible.
"This was a very significant and co-ordinated effort to cause massive disruption to the entirety of the M25," he added.

'rhinoceros, slow loris': the words that will now enter my head every time AI does a thing
A screenshot of me manually adding Alt Text to a Facebook post at work. To the right is a very simple graphic: a pale green blob on a green background, with text reading 'We rescue good to eat food that would otherwise be thrown away, fed to animals or turned into fuel.' Top left is a charity logo. On the left side Facebook has kindly drafted some suggested alt text for this image, which begins: may be an image of a rhinoceros, slow loris. Words cannot convey how absent a rhinoceros or slow loris (notoriously similar animals) are from this image. Not shown: this is an explainer post with a series of similar looking graphics, and none of the others have a rhinoceros, slow loris in them according to the generated alt text. (Also: yeah this is a bland Canva graphic, we do other stuff that's cooler, if you want to tell me why animal feed and anaerobic digestion are Important Actually then I can chat food hierarchy and stuff, it's all good.)

Folks, we don't get to be 'ICE is violent, corrupt, morally indefensible and facist' and then say 'oh apart from when they harm that guy I don't like' Human rights are not predicated on our opinion of a person's value. That's the whole point.
