#AMR superbugs are getting tougher, but predatory bacteria like B. bacteriovorus can hunt them down! We show that model bacterium E.coli 🦠 can escape these ‘living antibiotic’ by evolution, mainly through OmpF porin loss. This comes at a cost. Details at: tiny.cc/2qpa101 #MicroSky, #Evolution

Studies have shown that sleep deprivation can be equal to the effects of drinking alcohol for reaction time & attentiveness. For multiple nights now, many Basel residents won't have slept well in extreme heat - but may still be driving or operating machines. Be safe in this extreme heat everyone!

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque: "This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

A simple shift in NHS critical care practice is set to save more lives from #Sepsis. The @ICS_updates & @BritInfectAssoc now recommend continuous infusion for key antibiotics over intermittent dosing. Evidence shows increased 90-day survival. We urge all hospitals to adopt this practice immediately
