To be clear, we're going straight back to Brexit chaos if the Conservatives or Reform are in power, and that is because of their commitment to withdraw from the ECHR, which would almost certainly mean parts of the TCA suspended and huge US diplomatic pressure. www.ft.com/content/f923...

Bipolar disorder has among the highest mortality rates of any psychiatric disorder (suicide, medical comorbidities). It turns out that increased mortality persists into late life, according to the results of this Dutch cohort study. www.ajgponline.org/article/S106... (sorry, paywall) #medsky
Kaplan–Meier survival curves for older adults with bipolar disorder (OABD) and community controls (CG). Follow-up time was measured in days from baseline (date of interview or consent) until death or censoring. Participants were censored at the end of observation (December 31, 2019, for DOBi wave 1(OABD), December 31, 2024, for DOBi wave 2 (OABD), or the last LASA cycle (CG)). Cross marks indicate censored cases. Survival was significantly shorter in the OABD group compared with CG (log-rank test, χ ² (1) = 6.50, p = 0.011).

Tories would like to keep the nation in poverty, starve public services and featherbed the richest segment of society with money they refuse to raise by improving free trade. They also want to keep an electoral system that delivers massive majorities to parties supported by 1/3rd of the population.

What basic research is in science: it is looking—for years—at the spit of toad, or the quiet collection of data over a child’s cough. I will explain it another way: it is the Lionel Messi of science. It is sitting back quietly and then all sudden: boom, a swift innovation that changes our lives.

I get that for many the Euro is a major barrier- but personally WTF - one of the pleasures of travelling in Europe is to have a single currency, an easy way to compare prices and to transact. Retaining the pound didn’t make us immune to financial crises.

A man builds an IED. He sets it off in a busy public street. Shrapnel flies about hitting cars, homes and a child's bedroom. It's a miracle nobody is injured. And Reform MP Sarah Pochin calls his imprisonment "disproportionate" and "two tier justice."
It does raise this point of two-tiered
justice..

Reform's Sarah Pochin believes the
sentence handed to the 64-year-old who

Tom is absolutely correct, and the current Lib Dem defence of the triple lock is wrong-headed in policy terms- it might seem like a good wheeze to get/keep pensioners on side but we’ve seen how that sort of policy triangulation got both Starmer (and Clegg) into trouble. Bad policy =bad politics.
