Holy shit the number of people here who think summary execution is the appropriate punishment for negligent homicide. That’s fucked up.

I just read The Monster of Elendhaven, and at first I couldn’t figure out the ending. So i went and read a few online reviews, and some of them were so amazingly wrong that it finally clicked and i think i get it. Good book, but trigger warnings for violence, gore, an on-camera but not graphic SA.

Honestly surprised to see the Brazil Twitter thing isn't a fascist crackdown but, like, a judge making a ruling against a corporation because it wasn't following the law? And so it's actually getting shut down? Like, a judge. Upholding the law??

Here’s the opening, where she makes clear that she is taking white women to task for the narrowness of their political imagination.
The Master's Tools Will Never Dismantle the Master's House
Audre Lorde
I agreed to take part in a New York University Institute for the Humanities conference a year ago, with the understanding that I would be commenting upon papers dealing with the role of difference within the lives of American women: difference of race, sexuality, class, and age. The absence of these considerations weakens any feminist discussion of the personal and the political.
It is a particular academic arrogance to assume any discussion of feminist theory without examining our many differences, and without a significant input from poor women, Black and Third World women, and lesbians. And yet, I stand here as a Black lesbian feminist, having been invited to comment within the only panel at this conference where the input of Black feminists and lesbians is represented. What this says about the vision of this conference is sad, in a country where racism, sexism, and homophobia are inseparable.

do you ever think about how if we took the money, materials, work, and time it took to construct (and maintain!) all the cars and roads? we could probably use a fraction of those resources to build trains, busses, and bike shares, which would be more efficient and even save lives

When Bashir told Garak about the boy who cried wolf.
The chopper meme, with the characters replaced with Garak and Bashir from Deep Space Nine.

Panel 1: Garak as the chopper dad, saying "WELL, THAT'S A LITTLE GRAPHIC FOR CHILDREN, WOULDN'T YOU SAY?".

Panel 2: Bashir as chopper son, saying "BUT THE POINT IS, IF YOU LIE ALL THE TIME, NOBODY'S GOING TO BELIEVE YOU, EVEN WHEN YOU'RE TELLING THE TRUTH".

Panel 3: Garak still seated as chopper dad, saying "ARE YOU SURE THAT'S THE POINT, DOCTOR?".

Panel 4: Wide shot of both characters. Chopper dad Garak is standing, looking surprised in the left background. Chopper son Bashir is swinging a chair in anger, saying "OF COURSE. WHAT ELSE COULD IT BE?"

Panel 5: chopper dad Garak standing and pointing, saying "THAT YOU SHOULD NEVER TELL THE SAME LIE TWICE"

Dems should push back more, because the data is clear: mass deportations don't mean bigger slices of the pie for everyone else, they mean a smaller pie and thus smaller slices. It just damages the whole economy. Here's a paper that was just published. carsey.unh.edu/sites/defaul...

Texture mapping is a method of adding more realism to a low polygon model, so that it appears to have more detail than it does without adding more polygons. It is an effective way to create better looking 3D environments without adding unnecessary drain on your graphics card and memory.

my daughter made her own jeopardy game but could only think of one topic 😂
a cardboard box with four columns and four rows of envelopes, each envelop in a column with an increasing point value scrawled on it, from 100-400. Like jeopardy, each column has its own topic, with the questions in the column getting increasingly harder as the point values increase. the topics are: Animals, More Animals, To Many Animals, Overflowing Animals.
