It's fucking excruciating. I turned this book in to my publisher in January of 2025 and pub date has already crept out from discussions about late 2026 to January 2027 and then "for sure" March 2027 and now... April 2027. 😅

I lived near where they filmed Goonies and heard they would just rent someone's actual house *with all the stuff still in it* and simply swap out photos and a few character specific items. It's why everything looked so authentic. It was!

I was watching some older TV shows like Murder She Wrote and realized we've lost a lot of that "cozy, lived in" vibe in modern TV shows. Everything looks like an HGTV show home instead of grandma's cozy pad with shit from all her adventures

We're still on sinus allergy struggle bus here (spouse's progressed to infection and he got antibiotics), and I'm living on daily Mucinex, Claritin, and Ibuprofen - which keeps me in fairly good spirits - but we have just not managed to shake it yet. Quite the seasonal slog this year.

I long for a back-to-basics web: Markdown for text, JPEG images, no video, no Javascript or other client-side scripting, writable by a human being with a text editor. Make it as advertising/corporate hostile as possible. And above all keep it *small*. In other words, web like it's 1996 again.

Cleared and burned a large brush pile today, and spouse and I caulked the exterior edges of the leaking windows (painters had replaced the top frame and... Not caulked it.
