Sending ICE and federal agents to polling places is blatantly illegal, but that’s never stopped Trump before. Our new zine (illustrated by acclaimed comic book artist @gregpak.net) provides a pocket-sized guide on what to do if you see ICE at the polls: indivisible.org/wp-content/u...
WHAT IF YOU SEE ICE AT THE POLLS?
(Don't worry!
Read on for the plan!)

If you see ICE or
have any other trouble when you vote, call
866-OUR-VOTE
For help in other languages, go to 866ourvote.org.
• A real person will help you and get it on the record.
• Document everything on video, safely.
• Use the Hands Off Our Vote toolkit. We have a plan!
linktr.ee/wewillvote

If you're stopped by law enforcement...
• Prioritize staying safe. Remain calm, don't resist. Keep your hands visible.
• Document everything. Record on your phone or ask a bystander to do it.
• Get the agent's badge number, name, and their agency.
• If detained, ask for a lawyer, remain silent, and do not sign anything.
• To invoke your rights sayI want to remain silent" and "I want to speak with a lawyer."
• The Constitution protects your rights no matter your immigration status.
This is educational only, not legal advice. If you need legal advice, consult an attorney.
Our core principle is a commitment to nonviolent action. Work to de-escalate any confrontations with those who disagree, and act lawfully at all times.

There is a moment at the very very end of Abdul El-Sayed's podcast with Ezra Klein (book recommendation section) where he talks about the idea of "speaking truth to pain" and this will be staying with me for an extremely long time. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/25/o...
But there’s also something about truth to pain. We talk a lot about truth to power, but I think it’s actually a lot harder to speak truth to pain. I say that as someone who went to medical school, realizing that in a lot of our politics right now, we’ve got to get a lot better at speaking truth to pain if we’re going to get through some of these challenges that we have.

What does “truth to pain” mean?

It’s one thing to look power in the eye and say: You’re wrong about this. But there’s a way in which pain is very difficult to reason with. Because when somebody is in their pain, they’re in their trauma. They see that pain, and they may not see what’s causing it.

I remember just very explicitly being in a trauma ward with a gunshot wound patient and watching this big guy with his hand on his gunshot wound. All the folks are trying to pull his hand off his pain, that point of his gunshot wound, this clear vulnerability.

And this emergency room doctor had the presence of mind to be like: Everyone, stop. And she looks him in the eyes, and she’s like: I get that really hurts, and I’m so sorry that you’re here. You don’t want to be here. We don’t want you to be here. But if you don’t let us fix this, you could die. So I’m going to take your hand, and I’m going to move it off, OK? Because I need to get there so that you can live.

She was speaking truth to pain. He understands he’s at the hospital, he needs care, but he also doesn’t want anybody to touch the wound. Which is a natural thing. And I think it is a really great metaphor for how we think about a lot of these challenges we talked about today.

Thinking about "plus they'll probably have to deal with Godzilla at some point".
"Tried to watch 'Shin Godzilla" on the plane only to realize by the end of the movie that it actually a drama movie called 'Tears for you'. Words can't describe the feeling of watching an incredibly sad movie while constantly thinking: 'Damn... This is depressing. Plus, they'll probably have to deal with Godzilla at some point too...'"

What follows are four screencaps (presumably from "Tears for You"), showing a smiling woman (subtitled "I really love you."), a distant image from above of axwonsn in a white dress (subtitled"Thank you... for raising me."), a short-haired person weeping, and finally, an apprehensive woman (subtitled "living happily.")

I was unfamiliar until recently with the story of Father Mychal Judge, a gay priest who became the first recorded casualty of 9/11 while administering last rites in the lobby of the North Tower. There is an effort to canonize him, which would make him the first openly gay saint in history.

Stole this from the comments because this shit shouldn't be behind a paywall.
Crucially, the GLOVE has limitations, chief among them that for the device to work effectively and deliver its restraining pain shock, it must come into contact with the subject's bare skin. According to Compliant Technologies, the gloves won't work through dry clothing or thick hair. The gloves will work, however, if the subject is wearing thin, wet clothing, such as soaked T-shirts or blouses. The GLOVE also does not like being dunked in water and will likely be rendered inoperable if this happens.

senator hoffman has released a new statement regarding angie craig’s actions towards him, released via EMQ’s Facebook: she is so cooked
From Senator Erin Maye Quade on Facebook:

“Statement from Senator John Hoffman:

Congresswoman Craig went on FOX 9 this morning and declared that what I said was “emphatically” untrue. Her campaign has also characterized my account as “categorically false.”

Let me be equally clear: I told the truth about what Yvette and I experienced.

The screenshots released by her campaign show direct text messages from Congresswoman Craig. They do not address the substance of what I said: that a dear and trusted friend approached us twice on her behalf regarding an endorsement, once while I was in the ICU and again while I was recovering at home.

That friend confirmed that the endorsement requests came from Congresswoman Craig. Yvette was also present for these conversations. I did not invent them, and I will not allow our family’s experience to be dismissed simply because it is politically uncomfortable.”“I acknowledge that Congresswoman Craig sent a message expressing sympathy after the shooting. My remarks addressed the endorsement requests that followed and the painful impression those requests left on our family while we were trying to survive and recover. It is dishonest to give condolences and then immediately ask for endorsement like her text showed.

Peggy Flanagan’s repeated contacts with our family were different. Peggy reached out simply to ask whether Yvette, Hope, and I were okay. She sought nothing in return.

My remarks were about that contrast, and I remain accountable for every word I said. Congresswoman Craig may disagree with my endorsement. She may defend her campaign’s conduct. But she does not get to rewrite what my family experienced or publicly attack my honesty.

After everything Yvette, Hope, and I have endured, we deserve better than having our trauma turned against us for political damage control.

I have heard (college) students say “I searched up my topic” or things like that, but never “search it up.” I wonder why people make one-word verbs into phrasal verbs, like with “list out” or “choke out.” A lot of times language makes things shorter over time, but not always.
