Hey, I’m just asking questions. Ignorant questions, bigoted questions, questions that have been repeatedly answered for many years. Sorry, but I’m not listening to answers right now; I’m far too busy asking questions. It’s called being intellectually curious.

As anyone in publishing will tell you, women do not resist reading books by men, but men will often dismiss books by women. This is not a publishing problem or a failure to target men. It's a misogyny problem.

Can confirm that there are men in the world who got to date me based on having a pic of their cat(s) on their dating profile. Cats won’t override an overall disinterest in you but if I’m on the fence about whether or not you warrant a chance, it very much can be a deciding factor.

I spent like 30 minutes trying to explain to my mother that the concept of "an automated phone tree system handles your call" is not new and AI, but because people have decided that now it is independently intelligent they are trying to fire humans and let it do things it can't so it IS worse.

Another reason to hate generative AI.
Post from makesoneteam

I hate how much ai has taken the joy out of seeing something cool. You used to see something cool, like a really intricate drawing or a video of someone doing an insane skill or two animals doing something cute, and because there were no mental gymnastics involved in discerning whether or not it was 'real' you could sit there and have the joy of like, "wow! how did they do that! how cool is it that they made that! what a wonderful moment to have captured!" and now every time I see something remarkable i HATE that I have to sit there and be like okay let me go frame by frame to make sure everything lines up. let me double check the page this comes from. let me scroll through the comments to make sure no one called out something i missed. like i want the joy of being able to trust someone else's creation back, please

Matthew Maher has become one of those sturdy character actors who is totally recognizable as himself in every role but makes you believe he's someone different just because he has mad skills and commits 100%. Gene Hackman and Jack Warden had that gift as well.

We can't have an actual conversation about AI between people with tech knowledge and those without because they purposefully poisoned the vocabulary specifically so they could ride the coattails of actual science and also use that as a shield against claims they are just big fuckin scammers.

From a Jewish lady, thank you, Mr Pope 💙
In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

Workers fought to save jobs at a national trans rights group. Then came a one-sentence layoff email
Advocates for Trans Equality says a $2.4 million deficit forced painful cuts. Its union says management rejected alternatives that could have saved jobs.

Butterbutt. An older comic.
A four-panel comic titled "yellow-rumped warbler poem". In panel 1, a yellow-rumped warbler stands on a branch in a late autumn scene, and says "Fall is here." In panel 2, the warbler watches a brown leaf fall to the ground, and says "Winter's near." In panel 3, the warbler faces the viewer as brown leaves fall, and says "Need some cheer?" In panel 4, the warbler is showing its luminous yellow rump, and cheerfully says "See my rear."

Every delay is a win, even if they do start up the flights again. Blocking one plane for one hour is still an accomplishment. Fascism will not be defeated by a single, heroic action that solves everything forever. Every ultimate success is the sum of a thousand small things. Sand in the gears.
