🚨 🚨 🚨 NEW: A shocking @USCIS memo seems to declare that hundreds of thousands of immigrants living in this country and applying for green cards must instead apply for visas abroad; which could MASSIVELY disrupt lives. 🧵 on what we know, and what we don’t.

Policy Memorandum
SUBJECT: Adjustment of Status is a Matter of Discretion and Administrative Grace, and an Extraordinary Relief that Permits Applicants to Dispense with the Ordinary Consular Visa Process
Purpose
This memorandum reminds officers and the public that adjustment of status under section 245 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) is a matter of discretion and administrative grace not designed to supersede the regular consular processing of immigrant visas. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) reaffirms this consistent and longstanding approach and declares as a matter of general policy its intention to faithfully apply the statutes consistently with this understanding.

Proud to share that our first paper from the lab's new home at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and Brown University Health is now in press at @insight.jci.org! insight.jci.org/articles/vie...
We identify alanine as an essential metabolite for fibroblast-to-myofibroblast differentiation. TGF-β engages two parallel mechanisms to maintain intracellular alanine: synthesis by GPT2 and uptake by SLC38A2. Both are upregulated. Disrupting either depletes alanine, stalls glycolysis, and blunts the fibrotic response. The redundancy underscores how central alanine is to activated fibroblast function and suggests a new avenue of exploration for metabolic therapies in pulmonary fibrosis.

This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

New photos released of the person of interest in the Brown University shooting.
An FBI “Seeking Information” poster about the Brown University shooting. The top banner features the FBI seal on the left and the words “SEEKING INFORMATION” in large white letters on a red background. Below, bold text reads “BROWN UNIVERSITY SHOOTING,” followed by smaller text stating “Unknown Suspect,” “Providence, Rhode Island,” and “December 13, 2025.” Beneath the text are three surveillance-style images of the same individual taken from different angles. The person appears to be wearing dark clothing, including a dark jacket or hoodie, dark pants, and a dark beanie or cap. In two images, the individual is shown walking near a black iron fence and brick pillars, possibly at or near a campus entrance. In the center image, the person is walking toward the camera on a sidewalk, with their face partially obscured by the hat and image quality.

Throughout the seven months of correspondence reviewed by The Crimson, Summers and Epstein referred to the woman Summers was pursuing in some messages by the code name "peril" but never used her name in messages directly describing the relationship. On at least two occasions, the two men discussed Jin's emails to Summers, which he forwarded to Epstein. In later messages, the two men appeared to joke about the probability that Summers would have sex with the woman, apparently Jin.
