Below the metrics, a table lists individual terminated grants, showing award numbers, titles, a current status of "Disrupted," a detailed status of "Terminated," first disruption dates around August 2025, and latest disruption dates in July 2026.

This continues the administration's war on DEI. AHRQ is required by Congress to study health delivery to minorities, women, children, and low-income and elderly populations. Exactly these grants are being killed. The best predictor of termination is having "equity" in a title or abstract. 🧪 #AHRQ
A table titled "Words most disproportionately common in terminated AHRQ grants" lists fifteen terms sorted by the percentage-point gap between their termination rates. The table includes columns for the term name, the number of terminated grants containing the term, remaining grants containing the term, and the percentage of grants containing that word that were terminated. Top terms include "equity" with 75 terminated grants and an 85.2% termination rate, "disparities" at 73.3%, "training" at 69.9%, "diverse" at 68.2%, and "faculty" with the highest termination rate listed at 95.8%.

For these grant recipients, terminations came after months - in some cases over a year - of silence. #AHRQ simply failed to renew annual budgets and left researchers hanging. Some are still waiting. Now years of research in healthcare effectiveness are cut off. grant-witness.us/posts/2026-0... 🧪
A dot plot titled "Terminated grants" maps each canceled grant as a single dot along a timeline from April 2025 to October 2029. A vertical dashed line around mid-2026 marks when termination letters were issued. Purple dots to the left of this line show when each grant's most recent budget period actually ended, peaking heavily between July and October 2025 to illustrate that most grants had budget renewals withheld months before being officially terminated. Teal dots to the right of the line stretch through late 2029, showing the originally planned project end dates cut short by the cancellations.

Update: The flag on Princeton's grants was removed on June 4, around the same time NSF got this letter from Democrats on the House Science Committee, demanding details. democrats-science.house.gov/imo/media/do...
Dear Mr. Stone,
We are writing with serious concern about the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) apparent
behind-the-scenes blacklisting of institutions. On May 27, 2026, it was reported in Nature that
NSF had been blocking awards to Duke University, Harvard University, Princeton University,
and Yale University since April 9, 2026.1
NSF silently blocking awards for meritorious proposals
coming from certain institutions shows that the agency is no longer aligned with NSF’s founding
principle that meritorious research, identified by expert review panels and expert NSF program
officers, should be funded without political interference. This seems to be the latest salvo in
NSF’s growing list of attempts to implement the Trump Administration’s hostile agenda toward
institutions that are not in the President’s political favor.
