Ok so you know that thing where Facebook shows your friends ads with pictures of your face inserted with AI based on scraping your old photos, well here's the process to opt out of it, which is absolutely insane us.norton.com/blog/ai/how-... you fill out a form from a link buried 3 levels deep
Relevant Prompts
I didn't enter any prompts. Muse used my face in an Al generated ad shown to my friends. I assume this came from photos I uploaded in the past to Facebook or Instagram as I have not posted anything in years.Screenshot of response
Attach one screenshot that shows yo response from an Al at Meta model, f must be less than 4 MB and saved as WebP file.

Additional context
My friend did not take a screenshot because they were too creeped out.

This is a somewhat hot take but I agree with this article overall. We need to be having a more serious conversation about what micro mobility offers and how to build that up than just slamming it all as a menace or looking to restrict and ban it.

We need safer bike lanes, but why was this commute 20 mins by bike vs. 60 by transit to begin with? Reporting hints that she lived either near Jamaica or Middle Village, worked in East NY. Both would be MUCH faster if we built the transit we're paying for: pedestrianobservations.com/2023/06/18/a...

@paulbarter.bsky.social has noted that as countries develop, cities shift from being oriented around motorcycles to transit. shutting down frat houses won't end rape culture, but it will disorganize a lot of rapists, and i think that's probably worth doing if only to destabilize what is apparently an ecology of organizations that functionally exist to rape women per the whole "purpose of a system is what it does" insight.

AP Stylebook warns against anthropomorphizing AI systems: “Avoid language that gives them human characteristics… Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it.”
APStylebook @APStylebook

Artificial intelligence systems do not think, feel, want or understand. Avoid language that gives them human characteristics. This is called anthropomorphizing, when we ascribe human traits, emotions or behaviors to non-human things, such as animals or inanimate objects.
Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it.

Just found out King Kong appeared for the first time in a novelization of his own movie??? This is like the god Ra willing himself into existence
King Kong, also referred to simply as Kong, is a fictional monster, a giant gorilla who has appeared in various media since 1933. The character has become an international pop culture icon,[18] appearing in several movies, comics, videogames and television shows. His first appearance was in the novelization of the 1933 film King Kong from RKO Pictures, with the film premiering a little over two months later.

This Reddit comment is the best non-technical explanation I've seen of of "What is El Niño and how do we know this one will be really bad?"
Reddit post:

The earth is rotating. Let’s start there.

The constant rotation of the planet causes the wind and water on the earths surface to move in constant and predictable ways.

That movement causes the Pacific Ocean at the equator to move west and pile up. “Sea level” off the coast of Ecuador and Colombia is several feel lower than “sea level” in Indonesia.

The equator also gets the most constant sun, so the water around Indonesia is also much warmer than the waters off the coast of the Americas.

Every once in a while, the big pile of warm water in Indonesia gets too tall and too warm, and it falls over, sending all of that warm water back towards the Americas. A million tons of warm water splashing up to the coast of The Americas causes a massive spike in moisture in the air, which becomes rain. Lots. And lots. And lots of rain.

It can be measured at every step of that equation. We can measure the difference in sea level height at the ends of the Pacific Ocean. We can measure the difference in sea temperature at both ends. Once the pile of water starts tumbling east, we can measure the water temperature all along the Pacific (we have a bunch of buoys set up for this).

All of those measurements are higher than anything we’ve ever seen before.
