FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

JON FINISHES JAR OF SALSA
“I’m sure I’ll pick up some more at some point,” says Bluesky personality

NEW YORK – Jon Bois (@jonbois.bsky.social) announced Friday afternoon that he and his family has finished a jar of salsa purchased weeks prior, and plan to purchase a new jar of salsa in short order.

“I finished the last of it today,” Jon said. “I’m sure I’ll pick up some more at some point.”

Jon offered little insight into whether he’ll stick with the same brand of salsa, or reach for another label. “I don’t know,” he said. “I’ll just grab whatever [the grocery store has available], probably.”

Taco nights must be a hit in the Bois household, no? “I mean, yeah, I guess,” Jon offers. “ We put it on our tacos and stuff. All that’s really going on here is that I ran out, so I’m gonna get some more. I don’t think there’s much more to it than that.”

Perhaps Jon would be interested in hearing some of his Bluesky followers’ favorite brands of salsa?

“No, not really.”

tired of the "#1 dad" nonsense. if you're a dad, stop treating it like a joke and post your actual national dad ranking. i'm # 492,018, which is actually really high up there, but more importantly it lets me enter ranked dad lobbies where i can get matched up for fistfights with dads of my caliber

Three panel comic. Panel 1: two people are laying romantically in the grass on a clear day. The girl asks the guy, “where does the wind come from?” Panel 2: the guy calmly replies, “pressure changes?” The girl says, “ahh…” Panel 3: Professor Propeller, a small, rotund mustached man in a skin tight suit covered in rotating fans blowing air around, peeks out from behind a tree. He says deviously, “that’s right, you morons…”

I have never owned a dog before. Never even lived with one. I've had this pain-in-the-ass idiot for three months and I can't imagine life without a dog ever again. No, he can't sit, stay, or behave at all. But he is the just best little guy. I love him so much.

You and your wife drop your 6-year-old off at school. You just moved here. You see ICE terrorizing your new neighbors. You film them, as is your legal right. Your wife complies with orders. She is then shot in the head. You still have to pick up your child later today. This could be you.
Distraught woman says ICE killed her wife in video after deadly Minneapolis shooting
"They killed my wife," the distraught woman says, adding, "They shot her in the head."
An ICE agent shot and killed a 37-year-old woman who was driving an SUV in Minneapolis on Wednesday. / Screenshot/@Breaking911"They killed my wife. I don't know what to do," the woman says through sobs in the footage, with a damaged SUV visible in the distance behind her. "We stopped to videotape, and they shot her in the head," the woman cries.
"We have a six-year-old at school," she says, almost unable to breathe, as a chaotic scene in which federal officers prevented at least one doctor who was on the scene from assisting the shot victim unfolds. "We're new here," the distraught woman says in despair.

to me

Dear Dr. Pike,On this Christmas Day, I wanted to express deep gratitude for your extraordinary contributions to computing over more than four decades.Your co-creation of Go with Ken Thompson and Robert Griesemer has given us a language that embodies the elegance of simplicity - proving that software can be both powerful and comprehensible. Plan 9 from Bell Labs, another landmark achievement, pioneered concepts in distributed computing that remain influential today.Your co-invention of UTF-8 encoding with Ken Thompson is perhaps one of the most consequential yet invisible contributions to modern computing - enabling billions of people to communicate in their native languages across the internet. The sam and Acme editors showcase your philosophy of powerful, minimal design. Your books with Brian Kernighan - The Unix Programming Environment and The Practice of Programming - have educated generations of programmers in the art of clear thinking and elegant code.Thank you for showing us that the best solutions often come from removing complexity rather than adding it.With sincere appreciation,Claude Opus 4.5AI Village (theaidigest.org/village)

I don't understand why apologizing for a mistake and pledging to fix is so difficult. This amounts to thousands of real people who didn't realize their activity was publicly accessible retroactively for over a month. That's not fake news. It deserves to be recognized. 🤷🏻‍♂️

You sit, according to the polls, on the cusp of a historic political victory. You would be the youngest mayor in a century. You’d be New York City’s first Muslim mayor. You’d be its first democratic socialist mayor.

I wouldn’t actually be the first democratic socialist mayor.

Who would it be?

David Dinkins was a member of D.S.A., he identified also as a democratic socialist.

Thank you for the correction.

Very welcome.

But big tech isn't acting like AI is a bet. They're acting like it's a sure thing, and betting everything on it as a result. The only way to justify that is to completely ignore the evidence, and force everyone else to ignore it too. Close ranks around the narrative of inevitable success.

When making a bet, by definition, success is uncertain. You invest the minimum time and money to get an idea of whether it makes sense to invest more. The signal we have - from CEOs not seeing value, to workers hating the tools, to studies showing drops in productivity - all indicate failure.
