This gap is less than it cost the mayor to put a bounce house in the warehouse district for a summer. This is 1/33 the cost of MPS's surprise overtime. They renovated Target Center in part by making us, the citizens, pay $74 million via a sales tax. WE. HAVE. MONEY. We can spend it in better places

When I got the email I assumed it was a much larger funding gap. This couldn't be closed?? It's not insignificant, but it's also not that huge. More will be wasted on Mayor Her's lawsuits than this.

evie/hourcar is an invaluable public resource and should continue to exist and be publicly funded. $625k is so little compared to other local expenditures and msp electeds should be ashamed for letting it die

👏 for @jchavezmpls.bsky.social regarding the 'options' that Waymo offers: "Options? Let's have a 24/7 bus lane on Hennepin, build bus lanes. Let's get more bike lanes, more traffic calming. It doesn't feel fair to talk about options when those same options are being vetoed, rejected, voted down."

The jackals are out, as they usually are for a woman who speaks up in a way that challenges patriarchy. (And a lot of why victims don't come forward or withdraw--as a Weinstein victim did--is because the misogynist public and legal system launch their own punitive assaults.)

A truly heinous man has doxxed the Cornell victim on X and the comments are predictably vile. Based on countless interviews I’ve done with survivors, the trauma they are subjected to for coming forward is oftentimes even worse than the initial trauma they experienced. There is no real justice system

A letter to the NIMBYs in today’s paper: “Sometimes one has to ask oneself: Was my voice not heard, or did I just not get my way?”
Letter to the editor in today’s paper, in response to the quoted article:

BUS RAPID TRANSIT
H Line plan works, even if it displeases some

A key element of the H Line bus rapid transit's planned alignment is access to Como Regional Park, Zoo and Conservatory, an invaluable community resource ("H Line plan is upsetting neighbors in St. Paul," Sept. 7). In addition to the zoo and conservatory, the park has a lake and miles of trails for year-round recreation. It receives funding from all levels of government, in addition to revenue and donations from park visitors.
Como Park belongs to everyone, but it is not easily accessible to all those who need it. In my neighborhood of Southeast Como (Minneapolis), there is one approximately 9-acre park. It's about a mile from our easternmost residents and contains neither lakes nor trails. Parkland and water access is fairly sparse for much of the St. Paul stretch of the route as well. The 3A currently provides our communities access to Como Park, but only twice an hour during the week and once an hour on Sundays. We aren't getting a new
300-plus acre park any time soon; this quality of life issue can only be mitigated by increasing transit service to existing parks like Como.

Metro Transit released an updated Recommended Corridor Plan on Aug. 24. It contains an Il-page report that breaks down the data and outlines the reasoning for keeping the Como Avenue alignment. An additional four pages are dedicated to the location of the Como and Chatsworth station. Clearly, a lot of thought went into making these decisions. Sometimes one has to ask oneself: Was my voice not heard, or did I just not get my way?
