Love seeing High Point and Rainier Beach Community centers open late nights and weekends for kids, teens and families to enjoy. I know $ is tight but Alki and Hiawatha CCs sit empty on nights and weekends. Having these available during rainy cold months would be wonderful @mayor.seattle.gov

You're always just one or two sentences away from a really bizarre conversation when you dare to talk about parking.

My great -grandfather worked for Seattle Treasury office. He paid workers in gold (1905-10) “I have all the sympathy in the world for any public servant. You are the finest person in the world until you enter office then you are a rascal” (from his memoir)

They're not wrong. In a related example, the Downtown Seattle Assoc actually *wants* skateboarders sessioning Westlake Plaza because they add "eyes on the street"

Alki Point Healthy street Circa 2021 Before the road diet. Proof that street car takeovers can be conquered with good street design. Room for people walking and rolling now. Thank you SDot and a lot of determination by residents 1 more block until it’s finished @transportation.seattle.gov

All the posturing from councilmembers on the budget is funny because they literally can just change it. It's funny but also sad. They're just doing it for political brownie points.

“Recent research suggests Durham is seeing signs of success: A preliminary study from researchers at Duke University last year found that the program has increased 911 calls, a potential sign of growing public trust.” I’m sure Seattle will see the same with CARE officers taking more calls

The simple reality is that if we want to actually address climate change a lot of people are going to have to move to cities and people that live in cities today that care about climate change need to come to terms with that.

A good illustration why Seattle, which is often compared with Vancouver, often can’t/won’t accomplish better things in city-building. In this case, a far too powerful “landmarks board” that shouldn’t be able to veto badly needed #VisionZero public safety street design improvements.

35 circles and 5 thick white lines are painted on this downtown street. It won’t come off
A block of Ninth Avenue can’t reopen until the colorful design is gone. The center has tried graffiti remover and pressure washers, but the work is ongoing.

Once again: If you want cops, pay for them. Nordstrom and all the members of the Chamber are begging for more cops. They use cops more. But they aren't lobbying for a tax to pay for more cops. Hiring 200 more cops at an exorbitant pay rate will burden the city.

I want to see qualified professionals with engineering licenses are on the line having the final say in these safety decisions, not business owners of community councils. They can have input, and SDOT should hear their core concerns and try to accommodate them, but not give them veto power.
