What we've done instead of any official policy is tacitly allow homeowners and businesses to place concrete blocks on streets to physically stop RVs from parking. See 8th Ave NW between Leary and Market, or Fremont Brewing (pictured here in 2022).
Dozens of concrete blocks line the parking lane next to Fremont Brewing in Ballard.

Hello and good morning. It is 48 degrees, party cloudy, with a slight south-southeast breeze and changing fall leaves in Seattle. Please have a wonderful week, and seek to spend some time outside.

When it comes to road safety, cities have two choices: Adapt kids to traffic: keep them indoors and drive them everywhere. Or adapt traffic to kids: make streets safe enough to move as autonomous members of society. The choice says a lot about the kind of city we want to build. youtu.be/O_WjWRmQwtg

This is a spicy opening from Lindblom. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...
North Seattle's new Pinehurst Station will welcome passengers at 5 a.m.
Wednesday with less hype and lower expectations. It will be near-empty for a long time.
The aerial stop is surrounded by Interstate 5, a park, a golf course and single-family homes spread out among evergreen trees. Seattle had a full decade to plan for nearby blocks of apartments or condos to make the $240 million station more useful, but none of that construction is underway.
Sound Transit once hesitated to build here. Early data models said if housing and jobs didn't pour in, as few as 1,100 people a day would board a train at Pinehurst, far below industry standards.
But agency leaders acquiesced to the doggedness of one Seattle City
Council member, Debora Juarez, who insisted her district deserved a second rail stop besides Northgate.

The "fixed" view of traffic is a common opposition tactic for safety improvements. "But the traffic will just go to side streets now" is how I've heard it materialize.

My toddler gets carsick basically any time she rides in a car now. She really only travels on the cargo bike, and maybe once a week by car. I am not sure if this is a cool sign of car-light lifestyle credibility or a legitimate problem. Either way, I smell like puke.

New study suggests that a shortage of secure bike parking is limiting e-bike adoption. Glad to see this issue getting attention. It's intuitive that people with quasi-secure bike storage might be OK risking a pedal bike, but not an e-bike that's more expensive. doi.org/10.1016/j.tr...

I would love it if we started talking about rental scooters the way Pike Place apologists talk about cars in the market: the sidewalk pas de deux between scooter and pedestrian...the exhilarating sense of danger and improvisation as a loose formation of lime scooters weaves betwixt oncoming cars...
