A recent study by UCL's Centre for Holocaust Education highlighted this as a common misconception among English secondary students, with only 28.6% correctly answering that the British gov first new about the mass murder in 1941-42 (see digest 1 for details) holocausteducation.org.uk/research/80-...

So it looks like Reform policy chief James Orr has straight up broken the law here. It's also exactly the same crime Farage has been accused of re: George Cottrell donating via his mother and which Parliament is currently investigating.

Actually sad what AI has done to the world of souvenir fridge magnets, postcards, etc. It's kind of microcosmic of the whole issue: the people in charge of fridge magnets don't seem to care that fridge magnets actually matter to people who collect fridge magnets.

One thing I keep thinking about re: Book 11 of The Odyssey is how the dead are just as eager for information from the living as the living are from the dead. At some point, definitely by Spiritualism’s ascendancy but earlier than that, the dead became omniscient, and all questions went one way.

The Catalogue of Ships in the Iliad is, to a modern audiences, what classicists have called "boring as hell," but I can't help but think that if you were watching Homer recite it it would have been more like when comedians go, "anybody here tonight from Chicago?" and the Chicagoans in the back start cheering
Homer's like, "and there were forty black ships from...

Ok Pasolini's the Return is very good. I could make a contrarian take that it's better than Nolan's Odyssey but that would be disingenuous. A remarkably pessimistic adaption.
