Coupling of cargo to the autophagy receptor is a critical step in ER-phagy
The lipid composition of the ER regulates the ability of Lst1/SEC24C to couple cargo to an autophagy receptor.

COPII meets autophagy at the ER membrane
Nature Reviews Molecular Cell Biology, Published online: 30 June 2026; doi:10.1038/s41580-026-00997-7This study shows that neutral lipids regulate endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane curvature and bendability during ER-phagy, and finds that a COPII protein helps couple ER cargo to the autophagy receptor.
