Regarding the Nikon Small World controversy, I made a short explaining our concerns to the public—and why data integrity in microscopy matters: youtube.com/shorts/t1hlH... And just now seeing the LinkedIn breakdown showing Gemini generative AI altered the entry makes the whole outcome even sadder.

Happy #FluorescenceFriday. Its always exciting when i get to test out new constructs in my cells. It's not common that I get to see the ER network in an immune cell. This construct is not strictly ER but it's so overly expressed that it labels the ER in an embryonic macrophage in 🐸. How cool?

From single-celled organisms to ciliated epithelia in metazoans, precise positioning of basal bodies (BBs), which anchor motile cilia, is essential for generating fluid flows. Here, I, @raghavan-thiaga.bsky.social, will take you on a brief tour of how cells build this spatial organization.

Not many people know this but 🐸 embryos make an amazing system to study immune cells. If 🐟 embryos become less transparent as they grow, 🐸 embryos do the reverse, becoming progressively transparent. Their immune cells are very similar to 🐟 and 🚶‍♂️. Here are some 🐸 macrophages (🔴): #FluorescenceFriday

Annual killifish continue to surprise us: they make neutrophils before almost every other cell type, even before gastrulation. Neutrophils usually arise from the lateral plate mesoderm (forming in cyan), but in killifish they are already patrolling around the embryo in gold. tinyurl.com/killiphil

Working with complex systems makes even the most mundane thing fascinating. This is cortical reaction in 🐸 embryos. Upon fertilisation, ions are released and draw water in thru osmosis, making zygotes float and orient according to gravity. Do you see the waves?👀 not quite #fluorescencefriday #devbio
