Most often, people hire me to draw clean, grayscale maps of real places. But sometimes people hire me to draw fantasy maps. And every once in a while, someone will hire me to draw a fantasy-style map of a real place. They make great presents, in case you're wondering. #maps #fantasymaps
A map of the area around Seattle, from Tacoma in the South to Whidby Island in the north. It is done in a fantasy style, with different places represented by different icons. The border took me a long time, and is made of abstract shapes on a red background. There are mountains and forests, and the map includes Mt. Rainier in the bottom right and Mt. Backer in the top right. Neither mountain is actually there, but it's close enough.

This map was commissioned for decoration.Art. Colored map showing the locations of Alderely Edge, done in a fantasy style. The map is drawn to look like an old map done on parchment, with torn edges curling up. Two bars with ribbons wrapped around them form a frame at the top and right sides of the map. The ribbon on top is blue, the one on the right is a dusty red. On the right side of the map, between the frame and the edge, the map is colored turquoise and does not show any land forms. Written in large vertical letters in this space is the maps' title: "The Edge".

The main part of the map is cut with forests and cliffs, and has 13 locations noted. Each location name is in a small frame that looks like a torn piece of parchment. Two roads cut across the map, one labeled Macclesfield Road and the other labeled Artists Lane. They meet in the bottom 3rd of the map by a location called "The Wizard Tearoom." An arrow at the top left points up one of the roads and has a label reading "to Alderely Edge (village). An arrow a the other end of the road, at the bottom of th emap, reads: "To Macclesfield."

This map was commissioned to accompany an academic monograph.A map of the Society for Creative Anachronism's Loch Soillier barony in Texas, done in a pseudo-medieval style. There are sea monsters!

This map was commissioned as a birthday present.A map showing the route of an antarctic cruise, drawn to look antique or old. There's an inset map, drawn like a scroll, showing the route of plane travel through S. America. Around the edges of the map are several animals: 2 penguins, a seal lion, a tern, and a seagull. There are 4 whale tales coming out of the water along the cruise route.

A cartoon, by LUCI GUTIERREZ, of the blue Muppet Cookie Monster nervously about to eat a cookie that is covered in circuitry. This is followed by a page of text which reads,

COOKIE MONSTER TRIES TO MEET HIS A.I. MANDATE

BY YSABEL YATES

Me resident cookie expert on Ses-Lame Street, so me responsible for telling everyone about cookie how to cat cookie, how to make cookie, and, most important, how to slow down and enjoy cookie. But then me get new boss, Matt.

Matt here to "implement techno logical solutions that improve produc-tivity." Me don't understand. So me ask Big Bird for translation. Big Bird say this mean Cookie Monster has to use A.I. for cookie work now.

Me confused. Me know cookie in-side and out! Me never get complaint about cookie duties before. Now me not enough? Me spiral.

So me talk to Elmo. Elmo say not to worry because me cookie ex-perience still very valuable. Elmo also remind Cookie Monster that me always have good cookie idea, like making chocolate cookie, or coconut cookie, or oatmeal cookie, or tiny cookie, or macaroon. Wow! Me mak-

ing me hungry. Me feel better now. Next day, me record episode of weekly cooking show with Grover. In episode, me eat VERY BIG cookie. Everyone laugh. Me proud!

Then Matt ask why me not using A.I. to write script for cooking show. Matt say A.I. smarter and faster than Cookie Monster. Me explain that me already cookie expert, and me always done good job of bringing joy of cook ies to everybody. But Matt say that if
me no use A.I., me fired. Me panic! So, me try it. Me tell A.I.: "Write about cookies."

"When it comes to cookies, it's not about the taste it's about the experience."

What this mean? Taste of cookie very important to cookie experience. Me frustrated. Why Matt say robot would be good at cookie?

But me try again. This time, me tell A.L: "Write about cookies passionately!" "Some people only eat cookies on

the weekends. I eat cookies all day long. Because the cookic grind never stops. Agree?"

Me horrified. Me have unique voice. And now me sound like not me. Now me sound like Matt on LinkedIn.

Me sad after doing this, so me eat cookie in bed.

Next morning, me tell Matt that A.1. not good at cookies. Matt say that not true. He say me need better "A.L. skills."

Me not sure about that. But me do need job. Me dream of free cookic for everyone! Just a dream, though. Me still have to pay for everything. Cook-ies. Doctor. Everything.

So me take online course. Me even subscribe to e-mail newsletter, so me can get free e-book called "50 A.I. Prompts to Succeed in Modern Busi-ness. But now me even more con-fused about "skills" part. Is me miss-ing something?

Me need to prompt A.1. Me ger that part. For example, me told A.1.: "Give me yummy cookic recipe!" But recipe me got was not yummy. A.1. say to set oven to 475 degrees. That's way too hot for cookies!

"You're right for calling that out. That's way too hot for cookies."

Me know! So now me spend more time fixing cookie recipe. How this make Cookie Monster more produc-tive? This only make Cookie Monster more sad.

Later that day, Matt invite whole team to town hall about "exciting A.I. revolution." Me surprised during Q. & A. to hear Oscar say, "You're not just a boss you're a visionary!" Oscar supposed to be grouch. Now he suck-up.

Afterward, me try to log in to lap-top. But me locked our! Turns out, me fired along with whole team. Except Oscar, who is new "Vice President of A.I. Integration." Me check LinkedIn and sce that Oscar change bio to "Prompt Engineer & Al Optimist." Then me puke.

Me sometimes think me went all in on wrong thing. Instead of cookie, maybe me should've studied business management, like Matt. Me would still have job. But then me would have to fire everyone. And me would never do actual monster.. that. Because me Cookie Monster.not

If you would try to win by abandoning trans people (or any targeted group) you can save this “we need to win” talk; there is no “we.” I am about solidarity, and you have chosen anti-solidarity. You are not any “we” I recognize. You are the enemy I’m trying to defeat. Beating you is how my “we” wins.

Tumblr text post (continues in second image):

homunculus-argument

A story about an ordinary single middle-aged woman who loves thrift shopping, who keeps accidentally picking up cursed amulets, possessed shoes and other trinkets with ghosts attached to them. The ghosts are harmless, mostly they just seem relieved to be in the hands of someone who can see them, actually listens to them, and treats them with respect.
All of the ghosts are skittish at first, like new rescue cats hiding tightly in some corner of her home before daring to venture around the house at night, and slowly warming up to show up properly. And even be willing to share space with each other. It turns out she can take them all with her wherever she goes for as long as she's wearing whatever they re haunting.
She listens to them arguing with each other wile on her walks, like having a whole psychic group chat call going on. She learns that instead of being from a wild range of different times, places or eras, all the ghosts are roughly of the same generation, even if they died at wildly different ages.
They're also all local - they knew many of the same people as they lived, even if they never met each other in life. As the ghosts start narrowing down what they all have in common, it turns out that they all had beef with the same exact specific woman while they lived, and come to the conclusion that she was the one who cursed every single one of them to possess some item they always wore. None of them would have thought that the one thing they all share was being personal enemies with a witch, but alas, so it goes sometimes.Post continues:

The woman who gathered the ghosts continues her hobby of thrifting (taking all her ghosts with her, of course), and one time she bumps into somebody there with a last name that she recognises - the witch. Her ghosts affirm her that the young woman looks like the witch as well. It's the witch's granddaughter. At the thrift shop. And the woman the story is about walks up to her like
