Excellent haul from the charity shop today... Son even more excited to find the Encyclopedia of Sea Warfare is so old it predates the finding of the Hunley, than being able to look up the Hunley.

Extracted my mother from the hospital after a fortnight (no rappelling or balaclavas required). Got to join a friend walking their lovely dog (biggest baby in the world - a brindled Cane Corso). Met a mouse on a different walk.

What fresh hell is this? (I'm not linking to the video because even though it *is* the pilot of Due South, I'm not rewarding this garbage with hate clicks.)

YouTube thumbnail for the pilot of Due South but it's AI-generated so neither of the two men look like the actors who play Fraser or Vecchio. AI Fraser is not handsome enough and his uniform isn't crisp enough either. AI Vecchio is wearing the wrong clothes and has thick, curly black hair. A police squad car sits behind them in front of a skyline full of skyscrapers, when as any fule kno it should be a green 1971 Buick Riveria.

Apparently near Vancouver wolves are evolving into whales. (Or at least behaviourally they are turning into Pakicetus.)

Found this chart on Tumblr (posted by arlo-maintenanceman) and it's so helpful! Now I can just point at D3 (a pale lavender square) and say 'That's me'! If you want to tag yourselves, please do!

Six by six square grid with rows labelled by letter (A for the top row, F for the bottom row) and columns numbered 1 to 6 (left to right). Square A1 is a strong blue and labelled 'Male'. F6 is raspberry pink and labelled 'Female'. F1 is white and 'Agender / Genderless'. A6 is yellow and 'Genderqueer/ Gendered Non-binary'. The other squares are unlabelled and are coloured to reflect a move away from the strong colours of the labelled squares. For example, moving through paler pinks from row 6 to row 1 near the F section, and moving through paler blues from A1 to F1. Row A moves from strong blue in A1 through greens to the yellow of A6.
