Opposing military aid to Ukraine is not a ‘non-violent’ position, it is an explicit selection between the two available positions, both violent. You can’t say ‘we oppose Russia’, without then explaining, with what?

Not easy bein' green. My cartoon in today's @theageaustralia.bsky.social and @sydmorningherald.bsky.social
A political cartoon by Megan Herbert showing an aerial view over a table as a Greens strategy meeting is under way. Six different (unidentified) people are discussing the way forward for the party as one of them types up ideas including "replace labor" and "harness voter anger better than Pauline". Working clockwise around the table from top left the conversation is thus: Person 1: "New leader?" 2: "Check." 3: "Logo still good?" 4: Check." 5: "Now if we can just sort our brand assets from our liabilities..." The hands hover over a selection of different shades of green colour swatches variously labelled: "Bottle anger green", "Electric future green", "Legalise leaf green", "Smashed avo green", "Combative green", "Classic native forest green", "Watermelon green", "Cool quip green", "Rich tax green", "Muted sage green", "Throwing shade green", Free dental fresh mint green", "Brunswick green", with a bunch more partially visible beneath the pile.

Khashoggi's assassination was in hindsight one of the highly salient norm-shattering moments of impunity that helped recalibrate contemporary expectations for outrageous crimes: if you're rich & powerful enough, in the words of the President of the United States, "they just let you do it"

Privatisation, you say? Can’t be that. The market never fails.
But former VicRoads staff told the ABC the privatisation of the state's road-building had led to the decline as had a reliance on flexible pavement comprising crushed rock compacted and then sealed.

Vaccines don’t cause autism. But vaccines can help prevent it. This study found an increase in autism rates among babies born with rubella, who were infected by their moms during pregnancy. Vaccinating against rubella with the MMR vaccine (measles, mumps, rubella) prevents infection.

The EV was invented in the 1830's and the first rechargeable production EV was available in the 1880's. At that time the only oil burning ships burned oil waste for steam boilers. Rudolf Diesel patented his engine after the EV was invented, and it was 1912 before a seagoing ship ran on a diesel ICE.
