We need to talk about the separatists selling out our city and province. MAGA operatives came to Calgary to help carve up our country. Meanwhile, separatist leaders went to Washington promising our water, our oil, and our land. If you want to live in the United States, move to the United States.

this is not a problem you can fix with calm, reasoned debate. you can't even fix it by improving people's lives with policy. there is no clear, proven, non-violent solution to this issue. finding one is the most significant problem of our age.

This is one of the very plausible futures for the Republican party. These are the stakes Canada is playing for. I don't think there's any 'back to normal'.
Canada needs to “understand its place,” said Patrick Wolf, the Republican Party youth committeeman in Idaho’s Kootenai County. “In America’s eyes, Canada should be like Mexico, a subservient trade partner.”“There’s a lot of major resentment” for the way past U.S. agreements – including on North American free trade – gutted the American industrial base, he said. He raised concern, too, that Canadian rapprochement with China amounts to welcoming an adversary onto the U.S. doorstep. The American imperative to counter those developments, he said, outweighs international amity.

“The general view, outside of hockey, is that Canada is not an equal in terms of size and stature.”Patrick J. Wolf, PhD

The insurance on my 20 year old car (just basic, not even comprehensive) has gone from $1100 in 2023 to $2300 this year. It jumped over 40% this renewal alone because I moved to a different part of the city. The so called “good driver rate cap” of 7.5% doesn’t apply if you change anything in your policy. No claims ever, very frustrating.

My mind cannot comprehend this! Because I moved in May, my last two payments for my 2025-26 policy (with the added “high-danger postal code) were increased from $130 to $236/month to account for the address change. Ok course, my broker failed to mention any of this, so that was a fun surprise before I got the updated paperwork.

Trudeau treated Alberta like so much garbage that he bought and finished a pipeline to tidewater for them, kept approving oil sands projects (that didn't get built because the world price of oil crashed), and he said repeatedly that it didn't make sense to leave those resources in the ground.
“Let me cut to the chase here. The previous federal government — not this one, the previous federal government — treated Alberta like garbage, like terrible. I’ve never seen anything as bad as that,” said Ford, referring to former prime minister Justin Trudeau’s view of the oilpatch.
