The federal government should "step in" how, exactly? Evrery year, they already tally up what provinces charged for private care, and deduct it from their next transfer payment. This is publicly reported. That's as much as the Canada Health Act allows them to do.

Setting aside the fact that Quebec cannot abolish the monarchy in any way inside the province, claiming that they would "repatriate" those funds for social causes is pure horseshit. Any kind of elected office to replace the LG would cost vastly more than the LG does (which didn't get fact-checked).

It's just straight-up racism, and nobody is batting an eye.
Andrew Scheer:

Carney wants to bring back Trudeau-era levels of immigration.

This is the Conservative response 👇

Quoting Michelle Rempel Garner:

Mark Carney said he will increase immigration.

That's crazy.

Immigration needs to go down. WAY down.

Only Pierre Poilievre could turn Truth and Reconciliation Day into a gripe about federal government "intrusion."
Pierre Poilievre:

For generations, First Nations, Métis, and Inuit carried forward their languages, cultures, and traditions across this land.

Residential schools were a massive intrusion of government coercion imposed on Indigenous families. They removed children from their parents and communities, while attempting to break their connection to their very identity.

On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour these children, their families and their communities, and recommit to reconciliation built on self-determination, opportunity, and true partnership.

It was AFTER Confederation, took 10 years of stop-and-start planning first, and the 1881-1885 construction phase went HALFWAY across Canada—just Ontario to B.C.—without labour standards or consideration of Indigenous people. This mythologizing of the CPR is in itself a mark of unseriousness.

Oh fuck off. It was not a "neutral takedown." This is just pandering to Danielle Smith's Big Lie, and is inventing whole cloth a history of federalism that never existed, and which provinces don't actually want. Stop pretending that this is actually helping combat separatism. It's really not.

I can't wait for this to go down in flames and the bitter tears and recriminations to start flowing in the aftermath. Also, seven prime ministers in ten years is not a problem of the electoral system. It was largely caused by feckless leaders who made bad promises around Brexit they couldn't keep.
