Let me post a spicy take here: most people don't read or cite other model organisms' work. Because of this, they keep rediscovering things and, most importantly, re-writing the timeline in favor of fewer and fewer models. That, plus an artificial limit of citations per paper equals this 🧪

This 👇🏾. A different set of rules, expectations on women, and perceptions of workloads is all part of the hidden curriculum of academia. If all leaders/senior colleagues can do is tell women to learn to say ‘no’ rather than ditching the double standards, they are very much a part of the problem.

This sounds like a bit but I’m being serious: kids using chat gpt for their homework are denying themselves the invaluable experience of learning how to bullshit their way through a problem. You drink some caffeine the night before and figure it the fuck out. That’s a skill. You need it in life.

Can't believe we're all going to be replaced by this
Screenshot of an AI search result from Google that reads "The saying "two for a badger, seven for a squirrel" is a traditional Irish saying, often used as a joke or a playful way to describe the price of a particular item, especially in a village or local setting, like Tralee, County Kerry. The meaning is that the item can be bought for two shillings if you buy a badger, or seven shillings if you buy a squirrel. It is a way to emphasize the high price of the item, which is usually more expensive than a badger or a squirrel."

Highly esteemed Mrs. Curie,
Do not laugh at me for writing you without having anything sensible to say.
But I am so enraged by the base manner in which the public is presently daring to concern itself with you!? that I absolutely must give vent to this feeling. However, I am convinced that you consistently despise this rabble, whether it obsequiously lavishes respect on you or whether it attempts to satiate its lust for sensationalism!
I am impelled to tell you how much I have come to admire your intellect, your drive, and your honesty, and that I consider myself lucky to have made your personal acquaintance in Brussels. Anyone who does not number among these reptiles is certainly happy, now as before, that we have such personages among us as you, and Langevin(3) too, real people with whom one feels privileged to be in contact. If the rabble continues to occupy itself with you, then simply don't read that hogwash, but rather leave it to the reptile for whom i
