A world where a twist ending is repurposed as a video title. where a thing's climax has been removed, leaving an advertisment for the gap where it used to be. such things are commonplace in. the twilight zone

The flood in Nepal shows us why the claim we can just "adapt" to #ClimateChange is so dishonest (or foolhardy): climate change will break and remake our places so we cannot live in them safely, often with sudden and overwhelming violence. There is no such thing as bouncing back.

seems to me as I get older that (1) almost all institutions are totally broken, but also that (2) most never "worked" to begin with, and (3) we're living through the throes of a concerted multigenerational effort to make any kind of public life either impossible or simply insane

A tribute to the suburban surrealist version of Heathcliff by Peter Gallagher. Heathcliff, an orange cartoon cat, is standing on a neighborhood sidewalk with three generic compatriot cats and a frog. All of the assembled are wearing helmets in various colors. Each helmet has one word written on it and read together they say ‘Maybe it will happen today’. Sitting in a tree above the sidewalk are two yellow birds one of whom is speaking the caption of the comic which is ‘Maybe it will happen today’.

reshare for alt text, republicans and rich people who want to privatize mail have been lying about the USPS and trying to push this narrative longer than I've been alive, and imposing massive financial burdens on it to make it "insolvent"
Facts You Should Know

The USPS is not losing money
The USPS costs taxpayers exactly $0
The USPS has always been self-sustaining
The USPS is the largest employer of veterans
The USPS employes over 500,000 people
