Great blue. #BirdOfTheDay #Waders #eck 📷🌿🪶
A photo of a great blue heron (Ardea herodias) perched on a moss-covered branch, its body angled away from the camera while its head turns to look right. Long, shaggy gray plumes drape down its back and chest, and warm golden light catches the cream-colored neck, white face, and dark gray stripe above the bright yellow eye. Its long, dagger-like orange bill points to the right. The background is a blur of green foliage and blue sky.

Do Great Egrets look at their reflections and notice how beautiful they are? #Waders #BirdOfTheDay #Birds #Herons #ECK
A Great Egret wading in a shallow pond with an almost perfect reflection in the mirror-like surface of the water. It is in profile facing the left frame, its neck held in an elegant S curve. There is a fairly large leaved water plant near it to the left and slightly in the background. There is some murky green algae on the surface of the pond breaking up the bird's reflection. In the background are densely growing, green, leafy water plants at the edge of the pond.

A great blue heron perches at a nature area in Longmont, Colorado.

In this vertical black-and-white photograph, a great blue heron fills the frame in left profile, with its neck and head tucked close to its body. It stands on its right leg atop an exposed tree root system while its left leg and foot slowly lift into the air. The background consists of calm pond water, with the upper third reflecting the dark vegetation along the opposing shoreline.

A beautiful, quiet moment of a great blue heron at rest in a wetland habitat so vital to its survival.

An interesting thing about the monk parakeets in Barcelona is that the city monitors their movements, but the birds kept removing any rings on put on their legs with their strong beaks, so now lots of them wear these huge tags on collars around their necks like dogs. 🪶
A photo of a monk parakeet (Myiopsitta monachus) perched on an outstretched open palm, eating sunflower seeds. It's a small parrots with a green back and wings, a pale gray face and breast, and a pinkish-orange bill. A relatively large round black tag stamped "W57" hangs from its neck. Empty seed shells and a few whole seeds lie across the hand. The wrist wears a green and cream marbled watch band. Behind them is a sandy park path edged with grass, a dark iron gate on the left, and a black lamp post on the right. It's a bright, sunny day.

A Common Buzzard perched on an electricity pole in the evening sunshine. The bird is left of the shot, in side profile looking right so that its right side is visible. It is perched on a horizontal wooden plank, which runs along the bottom of the frame, bolted to the top of the pole, which is to the right of centre of the bottom of the shot. An electricity wire is running across the top left corner of the shot.
The bird is a stocky bird of prey, it has a short, hooked beak with yellow at the base and a rich brown head with dark eyes. It has a brown back wings and tail also, mottled with white in places and slightly darker coloured towards the tail. Its chest is mottled brown and white, turning to pale with dark barring towards the underbelly, the feathers around the legs are brown. The legs themselves are bright yellow with prominent black talons.
The evening sun is shining in from the left of the shot and giving everything a golden glow. The background is a clear blue sky.
