A Pink-Backed Pelican standing on a rock in an artificial pond, facing the camera. It has a long, yellowish bill, which is tucked into its body and pointing downward, slightly open. The plumage on its head and back are a light grey and its underbelly is white. The rock is a light sand colour, washed from past bird droppings. The water around it has a green tinge and there is an artificial, concrete bank behind it with three shallow channels scored across it parallel with the water line. The background is a wall of boulders in shadow.
