and similarly, it has "Abandon" and "Milestone" mechanics for character development, so even failure on a more meta level (abandoning a theme) is still a form of character growth, it still advances your story and changes your tags

Legend in the Mist does this via it's advancement mechanics! You only gain "experience" on your themes when their weaknesses come into play, so you're incentivised to do things that have a greater chance of failure because you can't advance otherwise
