There’s a lot of grumbling in London about new flats being sold to Chinese investors. But you never hear from the Chinese buyers. I asked Helen Gao to travel around Beijing property fairs and learn how you sell life in Woolwich to the Chinese elites. www.londoncentric.media/p/london-pro...

It’s Gynae Cancers Awareness Month in September and I was doing a bit of research as I’ll probably write a blog or something because honestly ovarian cancer is all such a mystery still… and this on the Ovarian Cancer Action website really stopped me in my tracks.
The current ovarian cancer survival rate is lower than breast cancer in the 1970s. It's a disease that's often overlooked, misunderstood or misdiagnosed. This is why we need to level up.

I don't like everything about the BBC athletics coverage (too much chat and not enough coverage of field events) but this week has really showed up how poor the TNT coverage was and why the BBC is still IMO the best broadcaster for major sporting events.

Was just thinking, six years ago we were all so isolated and amidst Covid and now we can all go out and stand on bridges looking at the sun through colanders. Definitely feels like things have moved in the right direction at least in this one small way.

Couldn't get the colander to work but a bit of card with a tiny hole did the trick. More impressive than I expected. Got quite dark.

So wet at the #commonwealthgames #glasgow2026 tonight, we couldn't leave by the proper exit and had to be escorted out via the track. It brought us v close to the women's high jump final. It may have been wet but the athletes showed real grit and the ground staff did an amazing job keeping it going.

What is overlooked in the BBC Radio 4 cuts is a simple fact: 94% of people use BBC content but only 80% of people are paying for it. Until that funding gap is closed through Government charter negotiation, cuts like these are inevitable.

CW @cwassermann.bsky.social · 17/06/2026
People get so cross about fare dodgers and other things they perceive as people getting something for nothing yet the BBC is in its knees and used by so many and 14% of people who use it aren't paying for it. That needs to be sorted out and something the govt addresses during charter renewal.
The bigger picture behind the cuts is that 94% of the UK population ise the BBC every month, but fewer rhan 80% pay the £180 annual licence fee.
