As a Christian, the Archbishop speaks for me, and for many other followers of Christ.
Archbishop of Canterbury:
Today I visited Cape Coast Castle. Seeing the horrific conditions that thousands of people were kept in, it is impossible not to feel the weight of the immense evil that drove the transatlant...

Richard Tice:
Did you thank Jesus for giving great courage and vision to the British for abolishing the slave trade, spending vast amounts of money and sacrificing brave Royal Naval sailors in the process?

As a Christian, you don't speak for me, nor millions of other Christians in the UK

Why should we donate to the Church of England for you to waste it on woke virtue signalling? Here's what Tice and his ilk don't get; the fact that Britain abolished slavery and stopped our role in the Transatlantic slave trade doesn't negate the fact that Britain perpetuated slavery and the Transatlantic slave trade in the future. The work of the abolitionists, whilst noble and good, doesn't remove the fact that this country increased its wealth off the back of millions of mainly black Africans kidnapped from their homes in order to be forced to work for wealthy white people in order to make them even more wealthy. It doesn't detract from the way that Britain and other colonial powers stripped wealth and resources from other countries which have never, and may never fully recovered from.Acknowledging all of that, for white British people, is uncomfortable, but that is reason enough for us to do it. Facing the evils perpetuated by our country is as important as looking at all of the good. It isn't "virtue signalling", it is our way of understanding why the world is as it is. We aren't responsible for the sins of our ancestors, but we continue to benefit from them whilst others continue to suffer from them, and we need to at the very least recognise that. The saying "those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it" are right. But Tice, Reform and all of the other performative flag-wavers don't care about that. They can see how understanding history allows us to understand one other better, and that scares them because it neutralises their shallow version of patriotism which is designed to divide and to pit us against one another.

I'm sorry, "people who work harder"? This will be news to every nurse, teacher, nursery worker, delivery driver, care worker, refuse collector, cleaner, shop assistant and many millions of others who work their backsides off for far less than 100 grand a year. What an utterly appalling thing to say.

The fact that, after just 4 winners in the first 27 Super League Grand Finals, Hull KR won their first title in 40 years last season and Wakefield won their first in 58 years today is such great news for Rugby League

I really thought this would be a tight game. 6-0 really doesn't tell you how good England have been and how awful Croatia have been.

I can think of no practical reason why a church would use AI, and very many ethical reasons why they shouldn't

The Pope is saying what I'd like to hear from more faith leaders. I'm so disheartened when I see Churches use AI generated images, songs and even prayers. It removes the humanity, and the image of God in all of us, from our worship as well as from so many other aspects of our lives.

Bulgarian chess player and Twitch streamer Volen “Witty Alien” Dyulgerov was randomly paired on chess.com against Magnus Carlsen, World number 1 for the last 15 years and the highest rated player in history. When Dyulgerov, incredibly, won the game he... umm... was rather pleased.

In 1919 Leeds City FC faced a not dissimilar predicament to the one Manchester City find themselves in. They were accused of various financial irregularities including making illegal payments to players during WWI. They also did not cooperate with the investigation.

Years ago, I was walking home late one night, and a drunk guy was harassing me - trying to get me to go home with him, pushy sex comments, etc. After a few mins, his mate turned to him and said, firmly but not aggressively, "MATE. leave her alone, yeah?" And he did. I think about him all the time.

This #SNLUK sketch started with Harry Kane putting England 2-1 up against Spain in the 40th minute with a header. Did that get added because it actually happened, or is it remarkable prescience?

Wide shot of the BRITISH MUSEUM. There are suggestions of fascism around the streets - tanks, barricades, an Orwellian 'Big Brother'-style poster on a wall. A voice of a TOUR GUIDE emanates from the museum:

TOUR GUIDE:
So the Tapestry tells acrucial chapter of our nation's history...

2
[Cut to interior of museum. A long Bayeaux-style TAPESTRY is on display, and the Tour Guide is speaking to a tour group]

TOUR GUIDE [smiling]:
How modern fascist Britain was created.

3
TOUR GUIDE:
The Tapestry begins here with the 2008 Crash, then austerity, then the AI Crash...

4
TOUR GUIDE:
...and by the end of the room it's just full-on fash.

5
CHILD IN TOUR GROUP [gesturing to the tapestry]:
What's this middle bit?

TOUR GUIDE:
This is the 2026 Battle of Legitimate Concerns

6
TOUR GUIDE:
[show a reporter standing next to the Dover protests]
Here's the media saying the government have got to do something about the legitimate concerns...

7
CHILD:
...About the failure of capitalism?

TOUR GUIDE:
No about brown people on boats

8
CHILD:
[pointing at boats crossing the sea on the tapestry]
Are these boats the mega-dinghies?

TOUR GUIDE:
Not all of them

9
[we see one of the boats is a giant yacht]
TOUR GUIDE:
That one's a superyacht,
carrying money from the American fascists to the British ones.

10
TOUR GUIDE:
You see really it's as much a story of convergence as it is of conflict.

[An alarm sounds in the museum]
DING DING DING DING

11
TOUR GUIDE:
Ok, tour over everyone

12
TOUR GUIDE:
It's time for the Two Minute Hate!

[They all leave the museum]

[ends]
