This interview with @timnitgebru.blacksky.app does a good job puncturing some of this BS. I think the private sector often profits off of just this sort of move: hiding ‘expertise’ behind proprietary doors and then making public claims that can’t be scrutinized is par for the course in business.

How do you make AI write fan fictions that are actually good?
Discussion (Ethics, working with AI etc)
Basically what the title says. Im a beginner who just started using AI to write stories, and i came to realize that the overall experience has been somewhat lacking. I found that most AI models are actually pretty good at generating plots, sometimes the plots they offer are really promising, you could see the potential radiating. But once it comes to turning plots into stories, problems start to occur. No matter how good the plot is, once it turns into a whole story, there’s always something missing. It constantly reminds you while reading that this is not written by human. It’s really frustrating, like it could have a whole paragraph that’s good, but when it comes towards a emotional climax, there’s no climax, only a watered down version of what good authors would have done. And sometimes they weave in new elements not even mentioned in the plot, and make it seem very important. Like they want ordinary scenes like characters holding hands to be so important, while dealing the actual climax listed in the plot so badly. I have tried a few different models, but the problems seems to be universal. I wonder if there’s some techniques that I have not learned. If you have faced similar issues, please tell me how you solved them. Thank you.
