I truly don’t understand this “transplant” nonsense. The whole THING about NYC is that ppl come here from other places to mutate into New Yorkers! TO SEE IF THEY CAN BE KING OF THE HILL, TOP OF THE HEAP! Imho a rando who moved here a year ago is the MOST NY person. Welcome Ohio rando, have a bagel

Here in Williamsburg it's odd because even around the college, no one can afford anything, because of Colonial Williamsburg, so instead of hip student eats we get 20 dollar sandwiches at stories that also sell hard tack

I’m a bit of a book nerd, so libraries are my thing. But a library with a train running through it? I mean, come on! (Calgary public library)

I was recently quoted that Wake Co NC was getting 1,500 voter registrations a week, but it swiftly jumped to 500 a day. This past week, Wake got 700-1,000 registrations A DAY from DMV) and that doesn’t count registration drives, forms mailed in USPS, and in person registrations at the elections.

Today in NYC, it’s theoretically possible for a crazy superfan to go to 3 MLB games in 1 day. The Yankees & Red Sox play a doubleheader at 1 and 7pm, and the Mets & Astros play at 4pm. Wish me luck.

The Carolina Chamber's annual data dive is always a fascinating (and sometimes sobering) view into community life. Take a look at the growth data for #Carrboro and think about what it means to be a town losing population in a region that is growing as fast as the Triangle. We have work to do.

Solid reporting on @mayor.nyc.gov rolling out the 2-K program for free early childcare. (gift link) The attributes of the locations chosen for the pilot show that the policy architects are thinking about how to do coalition-building through policy. Interesting! www.nytimes.com/2026/03/03/n...
Text from NYT stating "With his selection, he is trying to accomplish several goals at once. He is on the hook to respond to please from many of his voters in low-income neighborhoods to expand the availability of free child care. He also needs to project his administration's seriousness about extending free services to all New Yorkers - including families who may be very eager for child care but are not living in poverty.

The four communities Mr. Mamdani has chosen include mostly low-income neighborhoods with increasingly gentrified pockets, whose residents include upwardly mobile parents who have the resources and connections to push for greater expansion."
