The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.

I can only speak from my own perspective and the moment I’ve been writing in, but my impression is that writing about writing is treated as inherently confrontational. Talking seriously about craft means making judgments and I don’t think the current cultural beat is comfortable with that

Good writing in my view - while some commentary on here has framed Sheeran's justification as a demonstration of the hollowness of "neutrality", as a professional moral philosopher it is also what we in the business refer to as a "lie" and it may be helpful to refer to it as such

A popular sentiment I’ve observed consistently in discussions regarding institutional support for videogame making is the lamenting of key people in relevant decision making positions not caring about videogames because they:

Haven’t worked in the videogames industry in any capacity, and/or

Haven’t made a videogame in any capacity, and/or

Don’t play videogames.

I find this a little puzzling, and frankly a little alarming. I genuinely do not think working in “the industry” or being a base-level consumer of videogames would necessarily translate to making decisions that help a given creative scene actually flourish as a cultural ecosystem in “the Arts”, beyond the profit-first framing of “industry”.
