When all the cockroaches and worms of the Trump admin try to rehab their images after he's gone, we can't let this go. Rubio promised that PEPFAR wouldn't be impacted. It happened anyway. When he tries to be a "Normal Republican" in 6 years, remember he let hundreds of thousands die for no reason.

Mancini refers to ‘double’ Manchester City contract and says it ‘isn’t my problem’
* Coach alleged to have been paid for advisory work * Mancini says City ‘not guilty’ after Premier League ruling Roberto Mancini appeared to acknowledge he had “a double contract” when he managed Manchester City after the club were found guilty of breaching the Premier League’s financial rules. But Mancini, who in 2011-12 coached City to their first Premier League title in a half century and is now in charge of Italy, also said that what is developing potentially into the biggest scandal in English football history was “not a problem that concerns me”. one of my favorite Chinese religious beliefs is that there's a prominent deity called the Horse King, who is the protector of equines, especially for draft labor. Sometimes around the late Ming, a conviction arises that the Horse King is *Muslim* - and therefore you sacrifice lamb, not pork, to him.

The site gives Israel’s position on subjects including the torture of Palestinian prisoners, Israeli war crimes and whether Israel has deliberately starved Palestinians in Gaza, all presented as neutral research. I have never had the pleasure of meeting @dereklowe.bsky.social in person or even virtually but his genius has turned into witchcraft as he has extracted the very essence of my core chemist with this paragraph
One interpretation of this, although not the most charitable one, is that the ‘just make the stuff’ people are getting the most advantage they can out of what is probably fundamentally rather loose (or even sloppy) lab technique. I plead guilty to this. I am certainly capable of setting up persnickety reactions with precise orders of addition and controlled temperature and atmosphere, because there are some reactions that simply will never work unless you give them such royal treatment. But an endless series of these would have worn me down. I’ve always been more comfortable with the idea of throwing in an extra equivalent (or two), or turning up the heat some more if a reaction looks like it needs encouragement after a day or two.

On the one hand, I shouldn't wish my country ill. On the other hand, Canada's grandfathers bled with my grandfathers fighting the Nazis. When we were attacked on 9/11, we asked Canada to send their sons and they bled with our troops in Afghanistan. To betray that bond - we'll deserve what we get.

Working Paper 35608
DOI 10.3386/w35608
Issue Date August 2026
The literature on imperfect competition in labor markets has expanded rapidly in recent years. This article provides a guide to the field, focusing on the firm-specific ("residual") labor supply elasticity as the definition of a firm's labor market power. We present a general framework showing how this elasticity nests the three widely studied sources of monopsony power: search frictions, preference heterogeneity, and employer concentration. We summarize the empirical estimates of the elasticity of labor supply, highlighting sources of possible heterogeneity. We emphasize that it is difficult to infer elasticities from markdowns (and vice versa) due to the diversity of firm wage-setting practices, illustrating this point using the interaction between monopsony and efficiency wages. We discuss how policy issues in antitrust, labor market regulation, immigration, and macroeconomics interact with monopsony and conclude by listing several areas for future research

There's something sick about our public debate when journalists continue to dance on a dead man's grave whilst some of his supporters continue to pretend he did nothing wrong. Is it just social media that makes people so emotionally unregulated and delusional, or something else in our wider culture?

Research on economy-wide productivity and markup trends often relies on production function estimation, which can be more of an art than a science. Read Agnes', @paulaaureo.bsky.social's and @johnvanreenen.bsky.social's fantastic paper on how we can use subjective expectations data to improve it.
