I am struck that the political theory of MAGA in Trump 2.0 is the GOP can win without sound or moral government if everyone throws red meat to the cameras as the occasional bribe. You see it with Trump, Patel, Hegseth, all of them. Anyway, Trump's approval is at, like, -23, so...no luck on that.

For the last several months I have been in negotiations with the developers for the Staples property. While this is likely one of the last rezoning votes I can make in Bay Ridge, negotiations were still heavily shaped by the charter changes that take effect in January.
The developers made clear that if the Council did not approve a modified project, they would take advantage of the new rules to resubmit at their original building - or an even bigger, denser building - for expedited approval and with no wins for our community.

you only have to read the Court's public corruption jurisprudence to realize that a bipartisan belief on SCOTUS is that it is almost ipso facto impossible for a public official to commit a crime related to the office they hold. which is insane when you spell it out, but also an accurate summation.
