The Phantom of Heilbronn, also referred to as the Woman Without a Face, was a presumed female serial killer whose existence was inferred from DNA evidence found at 40 crime scenes across Austria, France and Germany from 1993 to 2009.

In March 2009, investigators concluded that the supposed serial killer did not exist, and the DNA belonged to a woman who worked at a factory that made the cotton swabs used for collecting DNA samples

Hey Amazon Prime commentary crew — if you’re gonna talk about the adversity Deshaun Watson has gone through, maybe be more specific. “You have to tip your hat to Deshaun Watson.” You absolutely do *not* have to do that.

joe biden's life had gone like a story about joe biden. i don't mean that everything that happened to him was good, but everything which happened to him was integrated into this narrative. this was the first thing in his life which violated the rules of the story and he had no idea what to do.

of course mamdani has to do something about antisemitism. he is mayor for the second-largest concentration of jews in the world. in addition he gets to staff it. do you think he is going to staff it in a way the ADL likes.

do any of the 'the american war of independence was a slaveholders revolt' people deal at all with the fact that later generations of british abolitionists were flatly sympathetic to the american claim (see: john bright)

at this point it would be fun to see him run for President because of how badly he'd get dunked on in debates constantly for all the things he's done but I won't complain, I'll be relieved as I should if he doesn't, I know I can't always advocate for gambling with fire for entertainment

I need yall to understand that US-origin weapons were delivered not yearly, not monthly, but *daily* or even multiple times a day If Netanyahu temporarily believed Biden had cut off aid, he was disabused of that notion very much immediately

The only real examples we have of Biden "using his leverage" are (a) briefly pausing specific deliveries of some bombs (other deliveries of same bomb type continued and those packages were eventually delivered) and (c) maybe threatening to cut of aid but crucially not actually doing so.

author is not a historian and his thesis here is a personal responsibility morality play that flies in the face of all the actual scholarship (kershaw, Evans)- that he’s framing it as the one explanation already shows he is approaching history in a fundamentally broken way

It sort of reminds me how there's much more structural discrimination against atheists and agnostics, but (normal) people would never suggest that you're in more danger being an atheist than being a Jewish person. Sometimes structural discrimination isn't the whole story!

I don't regard antisemitism as a unique or fundamental bigotry, anymore than I think that TERFism or Islamophobia is. But like TERFism, Islamophobia and other bigotries, it is a habit of thought that makes people increasingly conspiratorial, nervy and aggressive. There's no bottom to be had

it’s also by the same people who have a noble savage view of Palestinians and think the genocide is wrong because they’re morally pure. It really doesn’t matter what’s in people’s hearts when it comes to genocide or mass murder/assault, and anyone who argues otherwise is a campist

This is also something that North American Muslims have to worry about, it's kind of sickening to watch people dismiss the importance of ideologically driven violence against a community as a basis to be concerned for their safety and welfare.

Fundamentally this is also an argument against caring about anti-Arab and anti-Muslim discrimination, because it's not as bad as anti-Black racism. Which is a stupid fucking argument.
