I would like women to have whatever colour hair they'd like. I would also like accurate data on: 50+ female unemployment rates; number of 65+ single women on/below poverty line; percentage of 50+ women unpaid carers; impact of austerity on all the above. And for that data to be headline news.

To be completely clear— 'Crypto' means 'Hidden'. 'Currency' means 'Money'. So when we say, "Cryptocurrency billionaire gives Reform UK £36M", what we mean is, "Hidden Money Billionaire gives Reform UK £36M." The only genuine use case for cryptocurrency is to hide transactions.

If you allow billionaires to have their way, they take control of the media, refuse to pay taxes and keep wages very low so that they can maximise their profits. To protect their interests, they will also restrict freedom of speech and support far right parties. Prevent this by limiting their power!

90 years ago, Parliament responded to the rise of Oswald Mosley's Blackshirts by passing the Public Order Act, which banned political uniforms, private militias and the threat of force for political objects. The debates make very resonant reading today. Here's the Liberal Robert Bernays. (Short 🧵)
You cannot conduct a fair match when one side is playing with a ball and the other with bombs and, if democracy is to survive, it must be conducted according to definite and recognised rule. One of them is that no political party should resort to any weapon other than reason and argument. The introduction of private armies, as I see it, strikes at the root of democracy. I know it is contended that the Blackshirts are not armed and, therefore, are not an army, but I do not think that argument can be upheld. … Uniformed men in military formation suggest, and are meant to suggest, the idea of force. It is no argument to reply that at this or that demonstration no force is intended. It is an inescapable fact that a uniform in politics symbolises force, to be used either now or in the future.

Fallout from the C4 News Reform expose: polling company JL Partners gets hit.
British Polling Council Rule 2.1 states that all data and research findings made on the basis of social or political polls conducted in the United Kingdom by member organisations that enter the public domain, must include reference to the client commissioning the survey.
British Polling Council Objects and Rules.
With respect to the Channel 4 News investigation of polling apparently commissioned by Reform and conducted by JL Partners, it is clear there have been breaches of British Polling Council Rule 2.1. According to the programme, this may have been deliberate. We are seeking further information from the BPC member concerned and expect them to make information available after further consideration.
The Market Research Society has a wider remit than the British Polling Council and we note that the matter is being referred to the Market Research Standards Board.
We will await the outcome of that enquiry.

Jason Arday's utterly sad death holds a stark mirror up to the dehumanising political-media-societal culture we are in – one we must all be honest about being complicit in – which forgets there is a human being at the centre of a story, a case study, an issue, a scandal. It is dehumanising.
