Who will speak for me when I can no longer speak for myself? So enjoyed talking to David Runciman about the politics of old age and Beauvoir's astonishingly prescient 1970 book on Old Age - La Vieillesse.

I would like women to have whatever colour hair they'd like. I would also like accurate data on: 50+ female unemployment rates; number of 65+ single women on/below poverty line; percentage of 50+ women unpaid carers; impact of austerity on all the above. And for that data to be headline news.

I have done the mandatory on-line courses that were in my in-box. Forgive me for taking so long. They were.... nothing like plums.

Uhm, gently: I'm not sure yet another mandatory on-line training course eating up valuable time and emotional energy is the answer to increasing levels of stress experienced by HE colleagues....even if the course is on... stress.

I find dense histories tricky to keep straight, but ideas-based audiobooks really work for my brain. Naomi Klein's Doppelganger, Marina Warner's Sanctuary, and Rebecca Solnit's Orwell's Roses, Lyndsey Stoebridge's We are Free To Change and Philippe Sand's East West Street are really well recorded.
