A lovely piece about a series that many of us grew up with and have grown old following.
One of his old quotes played beautifully over the final footage, giving the show its fitting epitaph. “You know how you see this time-lapse photograph of a flower, and it blossoms and then fades away? Well, seeing that with a person is amazing because we don’t see that – the big picture of how they change over time.”

First up the biggie - Trainline exists primarily to make money, not to be a travel assistant. Hence the fees for things which are free using TOC in-house apps (which work for ANY train journey in the UK). Secondly as you've noticed their real-time info is not exactly real-time.

The world is confusing. On the one hand, AI is so sophisticated it will finish us by 2030. On the other, Trainline said the 10.16 was on time despite all services out of Paddington being blocked until midday, and 100s were queuing on the concourse to speak to one man because of no intel online.

This shouldn't need saying, but: reverse racism isn't a thing. It can't be a thing because racism is an expression of power relations and there is no scenario in which a white person is structurally disadvantaged in the same way as eg a Black British person is.
