Again on today's Batman discourse: The Year One/Long Halloween stories do show a Batman who comes to clear Gotham of the corruption and actually *succeeds* in doing so. The issue, and this is what Nolan and Reeves didn't adapt* is that as this is happening the vacuum is then filled by the rogues.

There were a lot of annoying asterisks in Andy Burnham's speech and I really do wish he'd take more action but I also appreciate that Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves were fundamentally wastes of space who had no right running a paper bag never mind a country; so it was really their faults.

Not mentioned in the discourse is that the only reason Bruce Wayne is a billionaire is that there needs to be a reason for why he can get those wonderful toys. A mere moderate millionaire isn't gonna build a satellite where he can hang out with Superman and Green Lantern.

GBR is taking the battery-led approach because this is where the best balance of passenger benefits, value, deliverability and flexibility lies for most passenger services. Full overhead electrification will nevertheless remain the preferred solution where route-level analysis demonstrates
that freight train operators’ needs, sustained high speed operation or wider network integration make this necessary or justify the additional investment.

The whole notion of the ROSCO is just WTF? I assume this could have only come about because of the nature of the 90s privatisation of British Rail. Even a more "sensible" privatisation surely would have meant that each TOC would actually own the damned things?
