Ninety years ago today, Oswald Mosley tried to march his Blackshirts through the Jewish East End. 🧵 He had thousands of uniformed fascists behind him and 6,000 police clearing the way. But the people of the East End got there first.

396 years ago today, Giuseppe Maria Desa—who’d been born in a stable, the son of a carpenter—had a remarkable day out. He’d been having trances and visions since he was 8, and now, at 27, during a procession through town, “rose up off the ground ... hovering above an astonished crowd”

No one is entitled to platform, viewership or being worked with. I know people who were close with him and how betrayed they are, I think they have every right to stop working with him and its weird to me that people think hes owed peoples time just for admitting he did it after he was outed.

so why must you go get permission from upset survivors? Its the same pattern I see with the Harry Potter stuff, people approaching sensitive topics and making it about their comfort in their media consumption and wanting people to validate. I'm tired of people fleeing from discomfort.

One thing that's been bothering me in the last couple days is I have never seen this level of "we should forgive and forget" "rehabilitation" for any woman doing anything perceived as or actually wrong no matter how small compared to literally having sexually assaulted someone.

When a person has been abused, our immediate priority must always be doing what we can to care for them, to prevent further harm and to help them regain whatever autonomy was stolen from them. That will *always* take precedence over the hypothetical future salvation of abusers for me.

441) Ghostbot. If you're worried your house may be haunted, deploy this spooky pal to patrol the area. If it meets any ghosts, it will befriend them and keep them away from you so you can get a good night's sleep. #SmallRobotsRemonstered #Halloween
A scene of what seems to be a long, receeding hallway in a grand house of some kind. The wooden floor has a patterned, slightly threadbare carpet running along its centre, which is rucked up a little partway down. All along the walls are framed portraits of people that look, broadly speaking, like 18th Century English aristocrats. The hallway gets darker the further away from the frame it is, with bands of shadow overlaying the shading on the objects. In the centre of the image is Ghostbot: a hovering robot like a sheet draped over something round, with a smiling face on the front. It is at a slight angle as it drifts down the hall, and its body is transparent, revealing the detail of the scene behind it. The Small Robots Remonstered logo in the bottom right is similarly shaded.

There are a lot of reasons it's discouraging but I think one is that these kinds of comments signal the limit of someone's commitment to solidarity, and that limit is "being continuously socially validated for the things I was passively watching anyway"

Photo of a black bandana with an assorted spider design printed in white ink. It's folded in half diagonally and resting on a wood and metal bench as a backdrop.Photo of an enamel pin of a celestial-themed bumblebee. The bee is facing right in a rounded pose with wings sticking out above it. It has a large round eye and sparkles on the body with constellation-like patterns as the wing veins. The antennae and some of the legs are mostly depicted by gold metal. The pin is resting on a blue cloth surface with some round gold accents. Mark at the bottom of the image reads "shop.mothmonar.ch"Photo of two vinyl stickers of stylized millipedes posed to resemble infinity symbols. Both have metallic color areas for their legs and between their black body segments - the top is rainbow, the bottom is red. They are on a brown-grey background. Text reads "Shop.Mothmonar.ch"Photo of a lavender sticker sheet with whimsical celestial-themed moths and related accent stickers. Nine moths have moons, stars, and small constellations on their wings with purple, blue, and pink palettes. Their shapes are inspired by real species like the luna moth, comet moth, cecropia moth, sphinx moth, etc. Accent stickers include four-pointed stars, five-pointed stars, a moon, a planet with a ring, and a four-pointed comet as well as a line of moon phases vertically in the middle of the sheet. Some of the stars, moons, and markings have metallic details catching the light here. The top of the sheet reads "Magic Moon Moths" and the bottom has the artist's name, "Moth Monarch".

Panel 1: A man, labeled "Bluesky Safety and Moderation", stands next to a giant, transparent tank of water. The tank is labeled "frequent posts hoping that trans people will die". It has a hole in it that water is pouring out of, and the man is winding his arm back to slap the tank.

Panel 2: SLAP! Closeup of his hand slapping tape over the hole. The hand and tape are labeled "mute the reports from trans people as abusive".

If you, btw, would like an example of a place where data centres are *actually* being restricted by legislation, go look at Denmark - where they are now last in the grid connection queue, prioritising socially valuable load growth (like electrification, heating, cooling, new homes) first

Jesus, take the (wh)eel! Did you know that there were eels on the table at the Last Supper? Da Vinci's famous painting has a plate of grilled eel & oranges -- a popular local dish that Leonardo himself probably enjoyed. The ingredients show up on one of his shopping lists! 1/2
Closeup of the plate of eel and oranges from Da Vinci's Last Supper. The eel is sitting on a plate, cut up into 4 pieces. Little eel nuggets, if you will. There is a glass next to the plate with what we should probably assume is wine, but which could also be Mountain Dew Code Red. Wine makes more sense canonically. Mountain Dew makes more sense comedically. You decide.

There are several rolls on the table that look a bit like potatoes but can't possibly be, and a small bowl behind the eels. You can see a hand behind the bowl; it belongs to James the Greater. He seems like he's telling the eels to slow down, and use their walking feet. Which, is just silly, tbh.

One wonders if you could read his future from the lines on that hand: early martyrdom, a post-death sail to Spain, a pilgrimage by Shirley MacLaine...it's probably all right there.

I suspect that James the Greater probably wanted his friends to call him Big Jake, but it never happened. Life is full of such little tragedies. Da Vinci's Last supper, with the plate of eels and oranges highlighted. You know this painting, and I don't feel the need to describe it. If nothing else, "The DaVinci Code" made it famous, but not for eel-related reasons. More's the pity. I do think it's interesting to extend the DaVinci Code hypothesis and presume that *every* figure in the painting besides Jesus is secretly Mary. Did Jesus travel around with a harem of hairy women? We can infer it from the painting. And...you know...it worked for Jerome. So why not?

FYI: you should have known that the much decried* performance at the opening of the Paris Olympics wasn't about the Last Supper. There were no eels. IFKYK.

* There are people in the world who seem to build most of their lives around feeling personally attacked, and who live to decry All The Things. They are almost never the people whom the world is actually besieging, and you can tell because they have the time for performative public martyrdom. They suck.
