Memento (spooky) Morty 🌙 @mementomorty.bsky.social · 20/01/2026museums are cool because the people who work there are like look at this neat thing and you're like wow that is neat and you just do it over and over again until it is time to go 453486757 0
Beauweevil @beauweevil.bsky.social · 20/01/2026My favorite part of working at a museum is seeing someone like something and using that information to herd them to something else I think they'll like, like an excited collie 180 0

Jenny Lee @jennifervestal.bsky.social · 20/01/2026We were at the Mingei museum last week and wandered into their library. The lovely librarian told us all about the Nakashima desk, conference table, and lectern. She was patient as I petted the silken finish. She showed us the construction of the drawers. MUSEUMS RULE! nakashimawoodworkers.comnakashimawoodworkers.comGeorge Nakashima Woodworkers - New Hope, PennsylvaniaFounded by George Nakashima, we continue to custom-mill sustainably harvested hardwoods and select the resulting planks individually for each project. Sunshine, MPH 🛸🐸🔬☣️ @callsignwhisker.bsky.social · 20/01/2026I worked at a natural history museum where they also had black widows and a bark scorpion. Alive. Right next to the entrance to the bathroom. I was very close to getting UTIs. And was constantly **counting** them. Love a museum. 050 0

My Password is Louvre @bmceuen.bsky.social · 20/01/2026It was very fun to design a museum exhibit and choose all the neat things I got to show people. The kids find typewriters to be especially neat 190 0
Lorne @lornetoledo.bsky.social · 20/01/2026Last time I was in the local museum, I was standing there checking out some very nice ornate cabinetry thing that was sitting there, and the security guard leans over and asks "have you figured out what they are yet?" and pointed to a placard explaining that it was a commode exhibit. 040 0
Karmadog's Crappy Cartoons @the-white-rose.bsky.social · 20/01/2026When my daughter was in like 8th grade she was naughty and was grounded for the school dance. Instead, I took her to the Milwaukee Art Museum. We had a blast. 010 0
Naïna @killersumobunny.medsky.social · 20/01/2026I volunteer at the local aquarium as an exhibit interpreter and yeah, that basically sums it up. If I can hook people on the first, flashy neat thing then I can introduce them to the slightly less flashy but also super neat thing all the way down until they’re hella invested in zooxanthella. 1100 0

NLCBIO @nlcbio.bsky.social · 20/01/2026Best unpaid internship ever was the summer I spent at the Philly zoo. Listening to parents try to explain loud tortoise sex to their kids made my day. Still go visit all the time. My kids know I will always say yes to a zoo, aquarium, or museum trip!! 010 0

Suzanne Palmer @zanzjan.bsky.social · 20/01/2026I find it often worthwhile, if whatever docent/security person nearby is bored, to ask them what their favorite piece in an exhibit is, bc often they’ve looked at everything long enough to have noticed something not obvious. 130 0
Molly (they/them) 🏳️⚧️ @epi-nymph.bsky.social · 20/01/2026Once I went to a conservatory and the docent was telling me about a plant’s reproductive parts and I said “wow, it’s like a giant penis!” And she didn’t find it amusing at all. 3140 0
Madaleine @madaleine.bsky.social · 20/01/2026Working at a museum was one of my favorite jobs! I didn't work in the fun part, I was in the office BUT I was given free passes anytime me or my family wanted entrance. We were there every day 😂 It was such a cool place! 020 0
Mark Walling @markwalling.bsky.social · 20/01/2026You idly wander into a Gem Museum thinking “bound to be pretty things inside”. Then a staff member sees you gazing at Quartz, and before you know it, you’re having a fascinating lecture about how 1960’s radios work. Museum staff have this superpower to unlock curiosity in people, and I ❤️ it… 030 0
