Pleeeeeeeaaaaaaase tell me that all those "you should need a government ID to access the internet" people are rethinking this position now. [We know they aren't. Ed.]
The first two paragraphs of the linked-to story:

"Denmark has suffered a major data breach that has given unauthorised individuals access to names, addresses and personal identification numbers belonging to about 8.8 million people registered in the country’s central population database.

"The breach occurred after unidentified individuals misused a private Danish company’s legitimate access to search the Central Person Register (CPR), the government said in a statement Monday."

Lucien Lazare, Jewish fighter in the French Resistance, has died at 101. A 7 panel comic by the artist. First panel: The artist is running from a distance towards a group of people playing basketball in the park. The artist is holding a pumpkin above their head and screaming "AAAAAAAAA". Second panel: The artist has leapt up and is in position to slam dunk the pumpkin into the basketball hoop. Panel three: the pumpkin splatters violently against the backboard of the basketball hoop, sending orange pumpkin goop everywhere. Panel four: the players stand staring, covered in pumpkin goop and shocked. Panel five: the artist stares at them wide-eyed, also covered in the goop and says "it's October FIRST". Their hand reaches towards their face. Panel six: the artist rips off their own face like a rubber mask to reveal a skeleton beneath. Panel 7: the group of players stand shocked and horrified, watching as the skeleton falls to the ground in a pile of bones, the sound effects says "CLATTER".

They quoted me in this New Yorker piece about AI today. www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...
“Let’s say there’s a world or time line I exist in where A.I. has been subject to regulation. It is ethical. It has no footprint environmentally,” the novelist Jeff VanderMeer, a prominent critic of A.I., told me over the phone. “With those guardrails in place, would I read an A.I. book? All I can say is no. And the reason is, in part, because I want to read something coming from a particular mind.” Using A.I., he said, “feels like a betrayal of the whole point of why you’re a writer.”

I once got 0% on a final year thermodynamics exam but that's because I had a panic after the first question and crossed it out then decided that learning physics in the first place had been a terrible idea and my life was ruined so got up and left the room. Maybe a poor exam strategy with hindsight.

The rush to speculate that asylum seekers are responsible for every crime in the news is a sort of opportunistic informational terrorism. Until it’s disproved it stokes fear and hatred. When it is disproved there are no adverse consequences and they know that they only have to be lucky once.

My local Nextdoor group is currently 90% people chuntering about the Green Party’s leaflet campaign, the complaint being that there are too many leaflets and on glossy paper, ‘which isn’t very green’. This is something I’ve seen with Greta Thunberg: people don’t actually listen to environmentalists

Honestly, at this point using one of those plagiarism chatbots and especially feeding it any kind of private, personal or classified information is indefensible. Social Media was already set up to harvest personal info, now 'AI' cranked that up to 11.

It’s very simple and it’s been said over and over but I guess it needs saying continuously: if you deem one group too small to have equal rights you are enabling fascism, not fighting it. The people saying Dems are GREAT on trans rights are not paying attention and/or saying stuff like this.
Nichole Hiltz
The Democrats defend the Kennedy Center but not trans people.
A building.

@treewarrior.bsky....
maybe because defending everything about a super small minority of the population is not worth losing to fascists

Disability support policy is a giant test of the principle “Innocent Until Proven Guilty”. Systems that gatekeep disability benefits to prevent supposed grifting are betraying that principle by deciding it’s worth making many innocents struggle & starve to stop a few bad actors. Same with welfare.

Keep politics out of music, like in the old days when Tchaikovsky wrote the 1812 Overture about how nice the weather was that year, or Beethoven composed his “Emperor” concerto in honour of his favourite kitten, and Dylan sang A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall, all about the fun of splashing in puddles.

When a game studio ships a solid game, it creates TWO valuable products: 1. A solid game. 2. The team that spent years learning how to work together make a game. Because Western studios keep disbanding #2 while development cycles get longer; we will inevitably see less of #1.
