I've read a few novels lately that are employing what I think of as "viewpoint chaos" to good effect and I keep wanting to stop and study it It's a multi-pov approach where pov can switch mid-scene instead of just at chapter/scene breaks. The moments of handoff are what fascinates me

My thoughts on "save scumming" - it is, yes, a player response to design failure. In tabletop, as in life, if you botch a roll you botch a roll - your friends all groan and you scramble to try to move forward. People try to pretend vidyagames should also force you to live with botched rolls but:
