Nothing drives me more insane than smart boy center/center right commentators who believe that defunding programs will make them more efficient. It’s an underpants gnome theory of good governance. It’s an old story that has never panned out!

For my ENG speaking followers Unprecedented High School blockades began in the outskirts of Paris in Créteil on the 21st of Sept. National mobilisations followed on the 29th of September, the 1st and the 6th of October. The movement is ongoing and has spread both in scope and scale. #tippingpoint

I usually design my business cards to be conversation-starters. But at after too many endless awkward discussions at recent events, I realized I needed a new type of card. The conversation-ender.
A stack of business cards reads in English and Korean: Generative AI is unethical, annoying, and anti-art. Anything it touches will fail, and be a mark of shame on human history. I do not wish to discuss this further.

This is like the guy who was aggressively pro choice because though he thought abortion was killing a person, that it was in self defense. He didn't come at this from reading the feminist writings about this concept, btw, but by being a weird Viking guy.

A medieval manuscript has confounded scholars for centuries. Have they been reading it wrong all this time?
Researchers argue incorrect binding of Voynich manuscript radically changes ideas about its drawings and indecipherable text

I remember my father telling me how anti trust laws worked as a kid. Something like "Well son, we have laws where one electric company can't just buy all the OTHER electric companies. Then they could just charge whatever they want because there'd be no competition." We were a very optimistic people.

I sometimes joke that given that my mom took some of her calcium from her mom, and I took mine from her, that means I really need to take care of my teeth because that is grandma's heirloom vintage calcium. (Maybe a few molecules at this point probably but still)

It’s so funny to imagine what the UK could be like if it took seriously any of its cultural icons—that aren’t wizards, Shakespeare, or in possession of good fortune but in want of a wife. We could have Tyranid statues at Heathrow. Perhaps a grisly frieze depicting Servitor conversion at Gatwick.

My opposition to the death penalty is regardless of the crimes of the accused. If nothing else, we should not use it because it has been, and will be again, used on the innocent. Allowing its use at all means it will be misused. That cost is too high.
