Dolly was in no way politically neutral. she wasn't *partisan* as far as I can tell, and nobody on the right wanted to tangle with her, but her politics were not a particularly subtle part of her life.

I struggle to describe what Dolly meant to me as a southern blonde who spent her entire life getting disrespected to my face for being trashy and vain, but I will encourage you today to reflect on the ways YOU have treated women in your life whose aesthetics you find insufficiently respectable

Both Dolly Parton and Tim Curry had such a genuine enthusiasm for performing that it was impossible not to love them for it, there were things more highly and lowly regarded in their bodies of work but both of them threw themselves into everything because it was pure joy for them and that rules

I think we need some kind of foreign exchange program where every American adult needs to live in a functioning social democracy for 6 months, just to recalibrate their sense of what is normal in terms of public services, health care, workers' rights, and so on and so on

it is actually kinda wild how many commonly used colloquial words in Hungarian are from Hebrew via Yiddish: meló "job" from meloche, balhé "quarrel, conflict" from behole, szajré "loot, contraband" from skhoyre, tré "bad" from treyf, mázli "fluke/dumb luck" from mazl belong to this category

This reminds me of a teacher of ours (iykyk) who once said something along the lines of “I would have to work very hard to contort myself into the perspective from which this is confusing.”

Speaking from newly acquired personal experience, if you have a potential rabies exposure (like a bat in a room while you’re sleeping!) & you consider rolling the dice on whether you were actually exposed because of fear of the vaccine regimen — don’t! It’s only as bad as any other shot.

One thing that's a really obvious way that The Patriarchy Benefits Woke Men is that we all kinda know that just applying some basic hygiene, having a job and hobbies besides gaming all day, and just not hating women with a burning passion - makes you upper echelon dating material.

Riddle me this: (I’m Chess-posting again) Pity the Child ends with that big sustained “‘Who?’” and then there are a series of big vocalizations (that imo decrease the impact of the number overall for not being text) Why is it not just in the libretto as “‘Who are you?’”

The sad reality of the Chess revival is that everyone else on that stage is acting their pants off to make the show cohere (even with the new book) and Lea Michele just can’t hold her own.

Air conditioning is unapologetically a good thing because it helps people not die. And one good thing about air conditioning is that it largely needs to run during the day when solar power is at its maximum: it can and should align with clean energy goals.

I know we're long past the point where this should be shocking anymore, but I still can't get over official government accounts stating that Jesus is "our Savior."
Tweet from the Department of Homeland Security: "“But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.” 2 Peter 3:18

May our nation continue to be guided by the light of our Savior."

A low-grade irritation in the shift in body politics in recent years: a resurgence of thin women posting mirror selfies captioned "and the BMI says this is overweight." The point they are making isn't liberatory, it's anti-fat. It's "the BMI is bad because it categorizes some thin people as fat."
