Roadway resurfacing is coming soon in Mattapan Square! We are investing in safer, smoother roads and making improvements over the next few weeks.

Roadway resurfacing coming soon in MATTAPAN SQUARE

The City of Boston is investing in safer, smoother roads and making improvements throughout Mattapan Square. Here’s what to expect:

Road Milling is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, August 12 and Thursday, August 13 (weather permitting). Work will take place at night to minimize traffic impacts and disruptions to the neighborhood.
Once milling is complete, crews will adjust and reset utility castings, including manholes and other roadway structures, to prepare for resurfacing. Casting resets will take place during both daytime and nighttime hours.

Once the roads are milled and utility castings are reset, resurfacing is scheduled for the week of August 17. We anticipate work will be complete by Sunday, August 23. Dates may vary due to weather. Work will primarily take place at night to minimize traffic impacts and disruptions to the neighborhood.

Following resurfacing, crews will install new pavement markings and striping to complete the project. Striping is typically restored within 48 hours to two weeks to allow the new asphalt to cool and settle before permanent markings are applied.
