the hypothesis behind "call it out when you see it" is that there are lots of close, long-term relationships between men (bad thesis already) where one party is constantly implying they'd like to commit sex crimes and the other party is constantly angry at them about it for years at a time

It's not "artificial intelligence," it's "superior intelligence." Superior to what, you might ask, and I think the answer is self-evident.

As I was about to go into my last (and determinative) interview at Google, the recruiter walking me to the meeting room stopped us. He opened a supply closet and pulled out a notepad and a pen, and handed them to me. Then he said, "Play the game."

Sen. Susan Collins helped steer millions in federal defense contracts to Navatek, whose CEO illegally funneled thousands of dollars to her campaign. The FBI sought to launch a probe and was eyeing Collins and other lawmakers. Then Trump gutted the unit in charge. THREAD 🧵

I hear a lot of people complaining about how Google has messed up Search by integrating AI. I was trying to remember the name of an RPG that Kieron Gillen (I think) mentioned the other day. It involves an AI, starships, and a sumo wrestler. So I searched for "Ai starship sumo RPG."

The Ford app just added AI. This is the greatest thing ever.
Ford app AI prompt, with the user-entered text "Write a 150-word story about Sailor Moon and Hatsune Miku kissing."Under the gentle glow of a moonlit Tokyo skyline, Usagi Tsukino stood atop a quiet rooftop terrace, the night breeze catching her golden twin tails. Beside her, Hatsune Miku adjusted her glowing teal ribbons, a soft electronic melody humming faintly from the synth display at her wrist. The vibrant city buzzed far below, but above the streets, the air was peaceful and still.
Turning toward each other, Usagi smiled warmly, her bright eyes reflecting the starlight. Miku stepped closer, her digital glow softly illuminating the space between them. Without a word, Usagi leaned in, and their lips met in a sweet, tender kiss that seemed to bridge magic and music into…one perfect harmony. As they pulled back, blushing beneath the moonlight, Miku shared a soft, cheerful smile.
Now that the magic and music are in harmony, is there anything I can help you with regarding your Mustang Mach-E
today?

All of CPSC's social media characters gathered around a giant number 10 floating in outer space. The text reads: Happy 10 years of safety memes to all our followers and friends! Tomorrow, we care for one another all over again!

The value of Graham Platner is that right up until all his red flags came toppling down upon him is that he is the most naked example of the amount of grace & credibility Simply Being White grants you. Compared to Abdul El-Sayed, who has to re-earn every ounce of credibility he has on a daily basis.

It's good that Google did this. Every American should see "Lake America" when they look at the Great Lakes. Is this humiliating? Yes. Is this a choice that we, as a country, made? Also yes. Lots of us will blame Google for this. But it's our fault and we need to fix it.

As expected, the Lake Ontario change is rolling out in the wake of GNIS updates. Bleah. Sure, “companies should simply refuse”, or “USGS employees should resign en masse”, or blah blah blah but the root cause is that the US was dumb enough to re-elect Trump and here’s another stupid consequence.
The U.S. Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) has formally changed the name for "Lake Ontario" to "Lake America" in the United States.
Since we update Google Maps to reflect name changes in official government sources, which is GNIS for the U.S., people using Maps in the U.S. will see "Lake America," those in Canada will continue to see "Lake Ontario," and those outside of the U.S. and Canada will see both names. These updates follow our long-standing policy for bodies of water with names that vary from country to country, and are starting to roll out
