Dionysus God: The Nonbinary God of Greek Mythology
Dionysus, god of wine, displays significant nonbinary aspects. Let's explore them further. This is the Venus de Milo. If you've seen only a single classical sculpture in your life, it's probably this one. We found her on the Greek island of Milos, hence the name, in 1820. She probably dates to the 2nd century BCE, though a lady never tells her age. Today, she lives in the Louvre. She's easily the most famous sculpture from antiquity. Her lovely, feminine curves, accentuated by her pose, called contrapposto, made her the subject of admiration for plenty of men, and a whole lot of women, too, I'm sure.
