An underdiscussed sickness of AI hoax images is that there isn’t even potential for an interesting backstory. With older scams, Captain Disillusion or someone could do a fun debunking and we could learn about con artistry or video editing, but now the reveal is just “they told a computer to make it”

I‘m not the victim in any of these scenarios, but I don’t enjoy learning near-daily that someone I’ve been inspired by is some shade of bigot or predator. My brain gets like, why even bother. Why bother creating when it feels like anyone I could collab with, talk to or look up to could be poisonous.
