This is do to a combo of pundits and legacy media being beaten into Pavlovian submission to lift up Republicans for “balance,” the reporters not wanting to disappoint their GOP sources (who are also their meal tickets & cocktail buddies), and many of them agreeing in secret with the GOP on stuff.

According to this new paper, taxing the rich via wealth taxes (at least as implemented in Norway) has not led to detectable capital flight, though a small number of of the 0.1% (~100 individuals) outmigrated. This makes me wonder about the design of their wealth tax.

This is *the* main continuity between neo-fascism and the 20th Century variety. Erich Fromm argued exactly this in "Escape From Freedom," saying that modernity left many alienated and socially dislocated--and fascist strongmen promised to restore meaning and purpose to their lives.
